Hello everyone I am new to the CT board, but since I am only about 1/2 hour from Danbury mall, I thought I would give this a try. I am looking to have the LapBand and found 2 great surgeons here in NY, problem being though, the 1st only performs open RNY and the 2nd, does not participate with my insurance and I can not afford to pay out of pocket at all So, now I am on a "new" venture, to see if any of you CT's out there have any recommendations, I live in Dutchess county and am not too far from danbury, I have GHI insurance I have a wonderful angel and know she will help guide me through this too! Just thought any suggestions would be great from here, much easier to travel to Ct then the city for me!!!!! Hope you are all doing well!!! Thanks so much! your friend in NY Laryssa

Hi Laryssa! I am sorry, I do not have any information you need, but I wanted to just send a quick hello. My only suggestion is to do some searches on Bariatric Surgeons here on OH in the Danbury area. Or, try http://switchboard.com Tara

I'm of no help to you since I did go into the city for my surgery (Dr. Roslin/Dr. Kurian), but welcome to the board and I hope you find the information you're looking for. Hang in there! Kathy F. P.S. -- I sneak over to the NY boards now & then. I lived all over NY for the first 30 years of my life!

Hi Kathy, Well, I guess we should "swap" sides!!! Going into the city is difficult for me, 3 young kids etc...fun, I have received many recommendations for the dr.s you used! Stay in touch...we'll catch eachother between here and the Ny board!!!! your friend Laryssa

Laryssa, I don't think I can help as I live in Central CT which is kinda far for you, but wanted to welcome you to these boards. Keep us posted! Phyllis

Hi Laryssa, I do know there is a Dr at Danbury Hospital that performs WLS. His name is Dr. Zucalla. I too was recently looking into changing surgeons and was given his name. Other than that I don't know what procedures he performs or what insurance he participates in, but I'm sure you could find out by calling the Hospital. Sorry I can't be more help, but best of luck!!!!!!! Linda

Hi Laryssa, Sorry for the delay in this post, but I was away. I am from Danbury, and had surgery with Dr. Zuccala at Danbury Hospital. He only performs the RNY currently, preferring lap rny. He has great results with it, and I was told that with the lap band there hasn't been enough testing and follow-up on it to warrant his starting lap band surgery. He is a great surgeon, I have had no complications at all! Give them a call at 203-797-7131, you can ask to go to his education class. You will have to check with your insurance or his office on GHI...I have healthnet. Good luck on your search. Anne
