Hello everyone!  I've never posted on this board before but I have been lurking for some time.  We have the tendency to get stuck on our "surgery type" forums and forget about all the rest that are out there.  Anyways...  I will be flying down to San Antonio, Texas 2 weeks from today to have my Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy with Dr. Alvarez just over the boarder in Mexico.  He is considered one of the BEST "sleeve" doctors in and out of the United States. I am very excited!   I have been researching WLS for the past year and I have wanted to get each one of them at one point or another.  First it was the Lap-Band, then RNY, then MGB but I finally decided on the VSG.  I think all of them are good options you just have to look at your personal situation (and read these forums) and eventually you just know which one is right for you.  I plan on keeping a detailed Blog about my experience so if there is anyone out there who is still on the fence about which WLS to have, check out my profile. I'll give you an earfull about the VSG. See all you post-ops on the "losers" bench!

Good Luck to you!  I am being banded on 2/11 in New Haven by Dr. Nadzam.  It's hard to believe it is February already and we are on our way to a healthier life!  Tina

Best of luck to you!  I agree that the type of surgery that best suits one is a very individual decision and it is unfortunate that so many people seem to feel the need to argue about it in the forums.  I just hope everyone can find the right tool for him or herself to achieve their own personal weightloss goals.
