S.O.S.
Hi Everyone,
I am getting really really down. I don't know if it's the weather, the lack of food, the fact that my meds are not on track, or what, but I'm feeling down. The diet is really really really really hard. I don't like the Ensure. I've switch to Carnation Instant breakfast, and that's a tad better, but I must say, I feel hungry, and I am dying to chew something and taste something that is not sweet. The low salt chicken broth taste like a chemical to me. I am not a big coffee/tea drinker, so I guess it's sugar free popcicles, water, crystal light, and the carnation instant breakfast. I have eight more days of this. I don't see Dr. Bell until next Thurs.

Hi JA,
Yup, it's the post-op blues syndrome. Very common, and it shall pass, trust me.
I didn't have Dr Bell so my food plan was probably a bit different, but I drank a lot of boullion, also I would buy vanilla protein shake and add decaf instant coffee to it to jazz it up a little. Just being able to have the taste of coffee made me feel a bit more like the old me again.
Eight more days. well, the sun will be out soon, and that will hopefully help to lift your spirits.
Hang in there, this is the toughest time and it gets so much better from here on out. I promise.

Hi JA,
I know what you mean, the start is hard! The weather doesn't help out at all either.
My mom made me home made chicken soup and we just take everything out and I would drink the broth it was so good(we are Portuguese so everything is FRESH) and so much better then that crap they call chicken broth.
Mom's home made chicken soup was what saved me!!!!!!!!

Thanks Deb!!!
I get that reaction all the time! I have some family members who have not seen me in awhile, that does not know about the surgery asking me if I'm okay.
Sometimes I look and think "wow" and there are times when I don't see a change.
But I feel great and am so happy that I may this choice. it's hard at the start as you know but the start of a new life is great!
Thanks!

JA,
this is coming from a preop, but you have to hang on there...just think of the long term..pretty soon you will be eating stuff you want to...but you have to do this for your health..and so we can all go shopping for clothes together when we all look like hotties next year
You can do it..i know u can..feel better and remember we are rooting for you..besides..u need to be on that bench to welcome me on to it hopefully in the next few months...

Hi JA,
This is perfectly normal to feel this way and I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but this too shall pass. Remember how far you've come and just take one little step at a time.
I'm 1 yr post op and have lost 145# so far and am still loosing, you can do this, I know you can. I went thru a pretty traumatic year with all kinds of complications and I'm still glad I did this.
So hang in there and come here and vent as much as you want. We're all good listeners and supporters.
You might want to try the flavored waters like fruit-2-0 or propel or have you tried the new crystal light called sunrise. I love it!!!
All my best wishes,
Mary Lou
