Just a reminder...

Just a reminder for us ladies to stop birth control pills at least one month before surgery. My lap band surgery had to be rescheduled from August 9th to August 17th as I was not told I needed to stop taking the pill for a month before surgery. Lois from Dr. A's office said there is a risk of blood clots. At first, I was pretty bummed out but I'd rather be safe. Why take the risk? Not that Dr. A would allow it. Even though I would have been off for 23 days he still said I needed to reschedule. He doesn't take any chances! It's only 8 days later and will be here before I know it! -Claudia

Claudia, I am so glad that you got a date already for your surgery. I guess time has flown bye since I last saw you and Karen. Hope everything else is going well for you. Let me know if I can do anything at all for you (watch the kids, do some washing or just go over and visit) since I'm so far away!! That's the first time I heard about that! I guess it wasn't mentioned to me since they knew what my medications were. I've been unable to take the pill because it gave me phlebitis (sp?), so not an issue, but that's an important reminder. Thanks for the education! You're almost there. Good luck! Kathy F.
