Maximum BMI issue/question

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knows if any of the Connecticut surgeons/ hospitals accept patients with a BMI over 70. I have done all my pre-op testing, but my BMI is still too high (72). When I started this process I was at a 75 so I have lost some weight, but I am starting to get very frustrated. My concern now is that by the ime I get to the 70 required by St Francis to even see Dr Barba, my testing will become outdated and I will have to start all over again. I am still trying, but I am also looking into alternatives. Any and all info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Linda, My BMI before my surgery was 76. I went to Dr. David Giles at UConn. He was wonderful. Due to the fact that I was otherwise fairly healthy, I don't think my BMI was an issue. Good luck. PS My surgery was 7 months ago. My BMI now is 48.

You might want to call a few other surgeons. I'm pretty sure that Dr. Bell at Yale will take you as a patient, AND he will do it lap. He is a wonderful surgeon - and I would recommend him. Hope this helps. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau Lap RNY 12/3/03 -94 lbs.

My brother was 635 lbs. He had his surgery done by Dr. Zucalla in Danbury, he's down 170+ lbs. His was done in April.

I don't have any Connecticut doctors ... my dr. was Mitchell Roslin at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. I highly recommend him, but I know it's a haul. I just wanted to wish you luck and tell you not to get discouraged, and take the ladies up on their advice about other doctors. We'll be praying for you!! Best of luck, Kathy F.

I believe Dr. Aranow at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown does. Good luck with everything.

Dr Valin in New Haven takes patients with higher BMI's. A friend of mine had surgery done by him and I think her bmi was 75. She did great.
