FRUSTRATION!!!Barba Patient!!!

Like Victor and JL I too am a Dr. Barba patient. I just called to confirm that there was a support group meeting tonight. Which there is at 6pm. In addition, I asked how long it would be before I got a call back from the office to schedule my surgical consult with Dr. Barba. Can you imagine I was told that it would be 4 - 6 weeks before they even call my back, much less schedule an appointment to see the Doctor. At this point, after having made weight and having to keep at that weight indefinitely I am very frustrated. Everyone says it is a long wait, and I understand that, but it is frustrating nonetheless. Deep breathing is not working right now! I had said I would not sweat the wait time, right Lisa, but apparently I was wrong!!! LOL. By my not too scientific calculations, I should get a return call to make the appointment to see the surgeon at the end of August or beginning of September. The appointment will probably be for January with my luck and then I probably won't have surgery until June of next year, provided I am approved by the surgeon that is! Well, thanks for allowing me to vent! It is appreciated. Those who are seeing Dr. Barba if you would keep me in your loop it would be appreciated. With any luck I will see some of you tonight! NA

Oh NA...I'm sorry to hear aout the long wait. Thats the toughest part about surgery...gettign everything done and then BAM! You hit the brick wall, waiting for the phone to ring. Just a thought/question - Are you 100% confidant in Dr Barba? Is he THE DOC you trust to place your life in his hands? If so, he's more than worth waiting for. If not, in your 'leisure' check out a few other doctors. Hang in there, and vent to us when you need to. -Deb

TASH- I HEARD you say you wouldn't sweat it!!!!!! LOL. But, what can you do? If you're dedicated to him...then, you wait. It took me 11 months from start to finish...waiting and all. So, I guess I can understand how you feel. Don't forget, people drop out of the process on their own, some people are declined, others aren't candidates after the test...so after all the filters...there may be less people waiting. Does that make you feel ANY better? Probably not. But, don't say I didn't try! You, me, TEA and some fancy teacups. You can cry into my pretty porcelain all you want honey! Soon, OK? hugs (big ones) Lisa

Hey there NA, I was at the meeting last night to and like you am waiting for them to just call me. Although Carolyn says a couple of weeks I am thinking it may be longer and like you very hard to wait. Not sure what to do. There are other drs out there and from peoples posts everyone is of course in love with their dr. I may make some phone calls just to get some information. I agree when people say don't switch just to get it done quicker but on the other hand we make this decision after alot of research ( i was reseraching for over a year before even asking my PCP about it) . So good luck! I do have to say the support meeting is for sure a great source of information. Carrie
