Greetings All.....

Well I've been lurking this message board for 9 months now and I am almost there. I have my pre-op requirements done and have my pre-op physical with Dr. Barba next week and they say I should have a surgery date soon. I am so excited and so stressed at the same time. The fear of the unknown and that something is going to come up to ruin this just sucks the joy and excitement out of you. I love this board and you all have been a great help for me just by letting me lurk and read your results and profiles.......Thanks

Welcome to the boards.  I did not use Dr. Barba but from the things I have heard, you are in great hands.  It is very normal to be stressed, anxious, scared and excited about the whole process.  Just roll with it and all will be well.  Good luck.

Can I ask why you didnt consult with Dr Aranow?  My PCP won't even recommend Dr Barba anymore given the program he has and the number of failures shes seen among her post-ops patients.  I would run to Dr Aranow instead.  Just my personal opinion.  I know someone he did surgery on personally and shes still vomitting over 4 years later.  And is currently being treating for hypoglacimia. hi just wanted to say i also heard bad things ab dr.barbs but i have no experence with him i was going to go with him untill i heard he had some law suit teresa

I agreed with Hedi..... My co worker's sister died because she had Dr Barber. I think you should research his record for lawsuits. He have couples of people sued him for this.  Good Luck! Kathy K

Kathy, this is slander unless you can back up your statements with certifiable truth. I caution EVERYONE from making these kinds of statements on a public forum!

Congrats on getting the ball rolling....  Sounds like you are doing great with everything....       You're in good hands.  Dr. Barba has a wonderful staff, his nurtionist and PA are awesome....    just make sure to follow their instructions and you'll do great!

I agree in that you should research him and all of his lawsuits against him.  Numerous people have died as a result of having Dr. Barba operate on them.  One girl on here posted a "Beware" post stating that he cut her throat by mistake and told her that she had about a hour to have repair surgery or she would die......I've heard too many horror stories about him.  That's why he's no longer at St. Francis I don't think.  I believe he's in New Britain.  Whenever I hear his name I'm scared for his patients.

I have to agree. I have a regular person who draws my blood and even she said she has heard bad things about Dr. Barba. My PCP doesn't recomend him but that might be because my PCP is with Hartford Hosp. I know he said he will start to suggest Dr. Aranow after what I have said about him. Good luck with everything.
