Victor, my understanding is that what weight you lost between your two nutritionist appt's, you need to NOT GAIN BACK. I remember that specifically. It is supposed to show your commitment to the process. Do you have a surgery date? I see Judy tomorrow for my first time and am seeking lap-band surgery. I could actually ask her if I think of it. Good luck...

Hi Victor, I don't have an answer for you because I had a different Doc, but I wanted to welcome you to the CT Boards. Don't be a stranger! -Deb

Hi Victor and welcome to the CT Boards. I had Dr. Bell do my surgery, and his rule was that once you went for your group appt. they would weigh you, and if you gained a good amount of weight (10-20 lbs), he would not do the surgery. I stayed exactly the same! Don't know how, probably fear! Good luck to you. I had my Lap RNY on 7/21/04 and am still very happy I did. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. JA

Hi Victor That is indeed true. You have to lose whatever weight Judy tells you between the two nutrionist appointments. Then, you have to keep that weight off for when you see the doctor and then, you have to keep it off until your pre-op appt. I did fine until the pre-op. I gained 3 pounds and was told if I had gained five or more - the surgery would be postponed. After my pre-op, I have been on a liguid diet (my surgery is this Thursday) till Wednesday and have lost 6 1/2 lbs in 4 days! Not fun at all! So, they will definitely postpone your whole process and set you back at least a month if you gain anything. Leslie

I don't have the answer either, although in my opinion, that is a pretty hard an pressuring ultimatem. In any event, I am sure it will be fine and WELCOME!! Phyllis

Hey Victor, I had my 2nd appt last week and lost 10 1/2 lbs. Now I have to keep it off. Not sure I can do it. Someone else posted how long the wait is to get an appt with Dr Barba. I don't know that I can wait that long and keep this weight off. I think I am going to start researching other dr's. My other issue is I may have new insurance at the beginning of the new year and DO NOT want to start this all over again. GOOD LUCK!!

Victor, The surgeon I had requires a weight loss of at least 10 pounds before he will even schedule your surgery. I had a friend who went through all the pre tests etc. and the day she went in to get her surgery date0she had not lost her 10 pounds and they would NOT give her a date even though she had done all of her requirements. That scared the crap out of me and I made sure that I lost the weight before my appt. (I had even been on vaca in Aruba for 2 weeks before my weigh in) I figure that if I had worked this hard and waited this long noone and nothing was going to get in my way!!
