No full feeling

Prior to my surgery everyone said "don't worry, you'll know when you are full." Well...I don't know when I'm full. I have yet to experience a "full sensation." I'm a little worried about this and am going to call my doctor about it. I eat the right amount of food...and I have even had more than what I am supposed to have...and still no full feeling. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have not experienced this myself. I always know when I'm full. Sounds to me like you did the right thing by calling your Dr. Let us know what he has to say. Maggie

Hi Ann, I don't always feel full and often feel like I can keep eating and eating. I do feel hungry which alot of other folks don't feel that either. I have had the experience however of overeating. I have not gotten sick where I vomit but I have gotten extremely distressed wishing I could vomit!! . I guess it takes a while to figure out when your body isn't letting you know until its too late. Ann: I am 4 weeks PO and I don't really experience the full feeling either. I don't eat much. That could be why. I am COMPLETELY uninterested in food. I eat a few bites and then it is cold and I don't want to bother with it anymore. So, for myself, I think that is why. Let me know what the doctor says, I am curious to see what the reason might be. Please do speak to your dr about this. I'm sure he can set your mind at ease. In my experience, it is not unusual, at the stage you're at to have a not have a feeling of fulness YET. Your pouch is still healing and 'learning' to function efficently. In fact, at your stage, it's pretty common to expect all you'll feel is PAIN from extreme overeating. (now, we know you won't do that!) or a bloated feeling. This is the reason for such strict measured quantites as an early post op. Now, you are eating to fulfuill a medical need. Soon, you'll begin to learn to eat to feel satisfied (not full). As your pouch matures, and you become more and more aware of what feels like what (it IS a learning process!!! -wish there was a map!), things will become more clear. So, just hang in there and keep an eye on your quantities, OK? Take care, Lisa C

Thanks for all your responses! And guess what? Last night I started to feel the "full feeling." It wasn't too much, just felt satisfied. Prior to last night I was feeling hungry almost all of the time and the little bits I was eating didn't do much to make the hunger go away...or if it went away, it was only for an hour or so. I think my pouch needed time to adjust and it seems to be doing so! Thanks for the reassurance! Ann
