Dr. Barba's Patient
Hey there,
I too am a patient of Dr. Barba. Great doctor, HORRIBLE staff!
Let's see... I have my OR date already. It's Aug. 16th.
Um... It took me about 2-3 months for the OR date. It does take a while but it's worth it.
I went to the last nutrition appointment, then about a month later saw the Dr. (waited for 2 hr's to see) and now I'm going to my 3 hr class on the 11th of August.
They said I could not gain even one pound or the surgery is OFF!
mmmm... I've gained like 5lbs since then. I'm SOOO dissapointed with myself. I need to stop eatting so much junk! I'm so close I can't give up. I can lose that weight in 1 week (no problem) so I'm not to worried.
Heck, when my boyfriend was here I ate out just about every day, ate junk, and even drank some soda (ick!) and still managed for lose 7lbs (yeah, go figure).
If you have anymore questions you can email me at [email protected]
Take care and good luck!!!

Count me in the same boat. I finished all my consults. My last nutritional consult was on 7/13/04 at which time I was asked to fill out a little piece of paper with my contact information. Yesterday, 7/22/04 I called to see when I might be seeing the Doctor as was told that they had about 50 patients to schedule and get back to and they would call me "sometime".
So now we sit and wait. BTW I have Judy Carter as a nutritionist and she is a delight and absolutely amazing!!
All I can say we have to hang in there and try not to go .
Honestly, even after I heard everyone on the board rave about how wonderful Dr. Barba was, I spoke to his office ONE TIME and they were so absolutely rude and nasty, I decided to go with Dr. Aranow in Middletown. I haven't had a problem yet dealing with his staff, and it's so much easier getting answers, etc. I knew I would be going nuts having to deal with a staff like that, so I asked around and heard that Dr. Aranow was pretty darn good!
Plus, the weight is long, but not nearly as long as Dr. Barba. So, here I am! ;) Good luck with it all!
Hey Amy,
I'm also a patient of Dr. Barba. I agree with the posts. He's great! Very realistic and supportive. He had great bedside manner before and after the surgery. I've had a few issues with some of his staff, too though. The ususal, ya know, treated like a number, no compassion, etc. The customer service aspect of healthcare is often times in the toilet, and his office hasn't proven to be any different.
To answer your question, though. After my 2nd nutrition consult I saw him in April (I think) for the surgical consult and had my surgery on June 1st. I started the process with my initial call the July prior, then an October info session.
I hope this has been of some help. It's rough to be patient, but I think you'll find it to be worth it ten fold!
Good Luck!
Dee
I HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AS TARA LYNN - MY START TO FINI****HINK WAS 8 WEEKS - I CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY BECAUSE IT WAS SO QUICK - I GOT ALL MY CONSULTS DONE IN LIKE 2 WEEKS - INSURANCE APPROVAL ONE DAY - SURGERY WAS SCHEDULED VERY QUICKLY BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE DID NOT GET INSURANCE APPROVAL - IT GOES BY QUICKLY - DON'T SWEAT IT - LOTS OF LUCK
