I got my letter from BC/BS today approving my surgery. I was getting a little worried. I meet with Dr.B on Tuesday 7/20 and do the hospital thing. I have the stomach bug that is going around so hopefully I will be all better soon. I have had it for 5 days now. Lost 8 pound though. On a sad note I have come to the conclusion that I am not made to have a puppy. I am hoping and praying that my friend will take the puppy. I will find out tomorrow. My life has been thrown upside down since we got her. Don't get me wrong she is the sweetest thing on the planet. I guess I am just selfish and want my life back. I feel like I have to babysit this puppy at all times. My 4 year old is not really interested in her. Now I feel like a bad mommy. Maybe it is because I don't feel well, or the puppy or the upcoming surgery but I can not stop crying or being in this funk. Anyway before I depress anyone else I will close. Chryssie

I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!! LISTEN THE PUPPY HAS TO GO, YOU CANNOT TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND A PUPPY AND A FOUR YEAR OLD - I AM THREE WEEKS POST OP AND CAN BARELY TAKE CARE OF MY KIDS BECAUSE I AM SO DARN TIRED AND SICK TO MY STOMACH ALL THE TIME - HAVING A PUPPY IS LIKE TAKING CARE OF A BABY - RIGHT NOW YOU HAVE TO CONCENTRATE ON YOU!! IT IS NOT SELFISH JUST NECESSARY. HANG IN THERE AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SURGERY.

I am happy you got your approval letter! That is wonderful news! Yea, it seemed to me when you had questions about the puppy when you first got her, that it might be too hard for you to take care of her. This is a bad time for a puppy. Think about how she will be taken care of shortly after your surgery, yanno? It's funny because when one gets a puppy "for the family", it's that person that just added a huge responsibility to their long line of others. Don't feel bad for giving the puppy a new home. I know you are upset and depressed and you are probably reading this and saying "yea yea blah blah", but I am thinking good thoughts for you and sending good karma your way to get you through this emotional time. Hugs, Tara

Chryssie, I hope it works out for you with finding a home for the puppy. Two years ago we got a beagle puppy, and we were so unprepared for it. It was like a bad dream, we had the dog for 4 months, and he was a terror. Alot of it was us, neither my husband or myself are very good at being the disciplinarian. The dog peed all over our entire house on a daily basis, including our bed! He chewed all of our wood furniture, ruined our carpets... obedience school did nothing. He also had separation anxiety (according to our vet) and howled all day while we were at work. Several neighbors complained. We loved the dog, but it was chaos all the time, and extremely frustrating. Anyway, it was a heartbreaking decision, but we had to find the dog a home. We got the puppy to "complete" our family, and it felt like we were failures to have to do that. It was tough to explain to my daughter who was then 3, but she was ok. Sad at first, but relieved too. The dog was so overexcited he was always knocking her down and using her as a chew toy. We put an ad in the paper for a free dog. We found a woman who had raised beagles before and was willing to take him. It was the best thing for us. I could not imagine going thru all that after surgery... My heart goes out to you. Even though it may be sad to find him another home, you will probably be very relieved in the long run. Good luck. Anne

Good Morning Chryssie, Please do not feel bad about puppy unless you know you gave puppy a good home to your friend. I know it is alot of work for puppy and your closer for surgery date. It is bad time to handle a puppy now and force yourself to get recovery well after surgery. I wish you a good luck and hope your recovery will be smoothly and quickly. I will read your update surgery from your angel. Take care Kathy K

Chryssie, Congrats on getting your insurance approval! . You are one step closer!! The next 2 weeks will just fly by. I am sorry that you haven't been feeling well. Hopefully this bug will be over soon if not please check with your doctor. Most stomach bugs don't last too long. I am sorry you have to give up the puppy but from the sounds of it the timing just isn't right. Having just given up my cat I can totally understand how you are feeling but in your heart you know it isn't right for you, your family or for the puppy to keep her at this time. You will be way too busy to really give her the attention that she needs. Keep smiling though, your time is fast approaching!! Linda

Chryssie, Congrats on your approval! I am so sorry you're not feeling well! Call your doctor though cuz you don't want it to hamper your surgery in any way! As far as the puppy goes, I have a 9 yr old beagle and a 2 yr old beagle (as of today), and the 2 yr old was only 5 weeks old when I got her. My 9 yr old was 8 months. Let me tell you, getting a puppy is no picnic! I was so overwhelmed, working two jobs and taking care of a puppy! Two years later, everything is fine, but the puppy is still a handful. Look up the rescue leagues for the breed, they will take the dog; or call your vet. When you're ready to get a dog, look for one that is like 6-8 months old..they're usually through all the peeing and chewing by then. Keep us posted, and hang in there! JA
