A newcomer to the site. I have my surgery date and am starting to get the jitters. My doctor is Carlos Barba and he and his staff are wonderful. If anyone can give me encouragement and support it would be greatly appreciated. Just waiting for Aug. 19th.

Michelle, I, too, know that feeling...my date is 7/21 with Dr. Bell. But I got a great boost tonight by going to Dr. Bell's support group! Hang in...August will be here before you know it! JA

Hey Kathy, I have been thinking about my upcoming doctor visit. Before I go do I need to get prior approval from my insurance company or do I do that after I see Dr Aranow? Any information would be a huge help. Thanks.. Pat DeVito

Hi Kathy! My husband has been my limo driver. HAHA. What is the parking situation like at the Yale support group meetings? I think I will go to the next one in August! Tara

Hi Michelle, Welcome to the CT Boards, and congrats on getting your date! Come visit here often, you'll get support, a chuckle or two (dozen) and encouragement. We've all been there, done that and know how scary and exciting this time can be. The jitters are normal, isn't that great to hear? Take care and talk to you soon! -Deb

Hi Michelle What you are feeling is so normal. My surgery is July 29 and I have been working toward this since last October. It's amazing how many different feelings and moods you go through during the entire process. At first I was very determined. Then I went through a stage of NO patience as I was so tired of the waiting game. Now, just a little over three weeks out, I'm cranky, feeling a bit scared about the risks and not motivated to get my self ready and organized. So... what you are feeling is so normal and to be expected. I am trying to stay busy, exercise and keep educating myself on the procedure and diet to fight off these moods. Just stay focused on the end result! Leslie

Hi Michelle, Welcome to the group Being nervous is certainly normal - although I didn't experience it. Instead, after it was over I had a complete sense of gratitude - it was overwhelming. All those hormones going into effect - it hits everyone differently. You don't live too far away - maybe we could hook up sometime. I've met some wonderful people on this board and we get together periodically for breakfast or lunch, etc. Best wishes to you and God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau Lap RNY 12/3/03 -92 lbs.
