NA Update
First of all, thanks to all of you who sent your prayers and your kind thoughts.
I got back to CT from NJ last night. My Father had the needle biopsy on Thursday morning (we got to the hospital at 530am after me driving into NJ by midnight, ugh).
Unfortunately his lung did collapse, but there was a trauma team on hand just in case and they were able to put a chest tube in for him very shortly. He is still in the hospital as he can not leave the hospital until the tube is removed. They have removed all of the fluid from his lungs, but now need the air bubbles to be completely gone or he runs the risk of his lung collapsing again, possibly when he is at home. He is trying to keep his spirits up and my Mother is trying to hang in there as well.
I am torn between wanting to be there, and my responsiblities here, but you guys are so wonderful and I thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and well wishes. It means alot to my family and me.
Will keep you updated. On an odd note, was so busy that I didn't eat much after eating like crazy on Wednesday, so maybe it will even out.
You all rock.
NA aka the girl
It's not easy when you have a family member who's ill and you don't live nearby -- I went through the same thing for many years. But you did go & I'm sure you were a great help & comfort to your Dad. You know that the folks at the hospital are taking good care of him & on top of the problem with his lung, and they're making sure it's in good shape before they let him go home. That's a comfort for you when you're back here.
Hang in there, hope for the best, and we'll be here for you!
