Hi Anne, Wow I forgot that you would be close enough to make it over to the "big doings" on Thursday..... We watched it on TV in our conference room during lunch. Can't say I am the least bit sad to see him out of there!! I do hope to get up to Hartford one of these days and will definitely try and hook up with you. Most of my meetings lately have been in Wethersfield. I would suggest buying some samples of protein powders before spending alot of money on anyone brand. Your taste buds will probably change after surgery so no sense in counting on what you like now. A hint for you also is you can use powdered milk as additional protein and can add it to yogurt, cottage cheese, soups etc. I got my unflavored protein powder from bariatriceating.com. Actually that is where I get alot of my stuff from or I did. I don't use the protein drinks anymore as I get in more than enough from the food that I eat now. You can also try vitalady.com and there are others also let me know if you need more resources. I did use the Atkin's Cafe au Lait sometimes and enjoyed those. You don't really get headaches from lack of protein but it is a very high priority for you to get enough in. You won't be able to do that the first few weeks so don't stress about it. Follow your doctor's program and you will do fine. Have a great weekend and let me know if I can help in any way. Linda

Hi everyone! Go SOX !!!! (Gotta admit that Jeter is one heck of an awesome ball player) I hope everyone is doing well. I continue to keep everyone on this board in my prayers. We are all going through an amazing journey and although it has been difficult for me to find time to visit, I read your posts as often as possible. I just signed a lease for a new apartment this week and will be moving in 2 weeks. Lots of packing to do, address changes to make. This will be a boost for me as well because I have been rooming with my brother and his daughter since I moved out of my parents home. This will actually be my first time on my own! Yikes! The thing I think that will be a big help for me is the fact the junk food and soda wont be around for my niece. (unless I cave and buy it) I have a better opportunity to control what I eat. Also, I have been trying unsuccessfully to quit smoking as soon as possible to minimize the effects of the smoking on the surgery I hope to have soon. It has been exremely difficult because my brother smokes and he was not very accomodating to my needs. Plus its a new start and a good opportunity to make the changes I need to make. I have my one on one consult with Dr. Aranow on the 13th. Looking forward to that. This weekend for me... Packing, a couple picnics, a fireworks display my buddy and I are doing for his wifes birthday which is on the 4th. We bought a ton of fireworks and I made a CD of patriotic songs and him and I are planning it all out with a cool grand finale. Should be fun! Oh, and more packing too! Anyway, I am keeping my eyes on this page. I hope to post more often once I get past this move. God Bless You All! God Bless America! Jim

Hi Linda and all the other wonderful CT Posters! I'm here and not nearly as busy as some of you! Basically I just have 2 doctors appointments next week. Tuesday I see the Pulmonologist because of this stupid lung. Wednesday, I go to the surgeon to get these itchy staples out and then get the go-ahead for pureed foods. W00P! I have one more full week off and then back to work. I was supposed to go to New Hampshire to see my dad for a few days, but my surgeon said NO WAY .. can't travel that far so soon after surgery. BOOOOO! Congrats on the sale (and buy), Linda. Also, I am sorry you can't get your sugar under control. For the record, I am a Yankees fan! Love to you all! T
