Kathy, Happy Anniversary, hope that you get your blingbling soon!! Moving in together will be a good test but don't let it drag on too long without the big "C". Men can get complacent. Sounds like you have a great weekend planned. Meeting Anne there at the game would be a real kick. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that your new job works out just the way you want it to. Sounds like it should be pretty interesting if nothing else. I am glad to know that I am not the only one around here with shopping issues..... I think we should start our own 12 step program. Have a great time this weekend!! Linda

Hi Everyone! I'm hoping to get some rest this weekend! Tomorrow we are going to my in-laws - they live on Lake Hayward, so there will be a big family picnic - an all-day event, but its usually very nice. Sunday is church in the morning, and then to the Jamaican farm worker's camp in the evening for their worship service. Hoping Monday is quiet! Everyone enjoy their weekend! BTW - I've been wondering how you were Heather - glad to see you posting again! God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau

I have few moew tests to go but I do not want to have surgery in Sept because my daugther is going to have moonwalk/climb birthday party at my house with alot of kids. If my doctor s office ask me when then I will ask for last week of sept or early of October. all tests I took came out great so far..... Nicky and I will together to do addition and will put up drysheet up all over this long weekend except this sunday. My kids and I will go to see my aunts house for july 4th party but my aunts will have to get used to the new me because I told her to not serve me alot of sweets or alot of carb things. she is not used to cook healthy foods. Time will change this to get used from me with food issues. my daugther made to dentist to fix her first cavity. you wont believe this.. laughing mask, stuffs on her between two teeth costs us $446.00. $115.00 for each baby tooth in the back ( add up for two between teeth) That is life insurance pays only 45 percent from this... Have a nice weekend and drive safety Kathy K

Oh Kathy huni, I am so sorry I didn't respond to your mail. Your right, I have been a little crazy with this incision stuff that I really didn't expect and going back and forth to the doctor, but you are always in my thoughts! October will be a great month for you to have your surgery. Then you can kick back and watch the pretty season we enjoy in Ct. Your right, having a bunch of kids at the house and you recovering would not be good. Sorry for being a bad angel.....love you Cheryl

Okay guys, I'm with Debbie. GO BO SOX!!! No big holiday plans at our house. Maybe a cookout at some point with friends, but no large bashes. I'm psyched though, as I could definatly use the time to catch up on everything at the house. Being 1 month post op, everything has sort of fallen by the way side. My 1 month check today, Dr. Barba had great things to say and was happy with my progress, but he said my lack of energy was normal and to be expected for a while still. Argh! I've been on the road a lot for work. My newest office is right down the road from Fenway Park. I'm hoping to be able to catch a Red Sox game there soon, even if it's nose bleed. I'm going to see Don Henley at Foxwoods next weekend with my college roommate. I'm looking forward to a little blackjack. Maybe the fact that I can't drink will help me keep my head on strait. (and not lose my shirt!) Hope you all have a great holiday weekend! Dee P.S. Linda congrats on the house! We'll keep our fingers crossed. P.P.S. Cheryl how are you feeling? Will you be in a thong in FLA?? P.P.P.S Anne, Congrats on your new wheels!! Have fun in NYC!

I'm so addicted to this site! Linda, congrats on the house. I feel your financial pain with all that's coming up for you too- you've got a full plate in the next few months. This week was chock full for me. As the dedicated state employee that I am, we hoofed it up Capitol Avenue yesterday (I work in Hartford, right on Capitol Ave), and watched Jodi do her thing. It was very humid and one of the Gov's footgaurd passed out from the heat right in front of us. Luckily, the EMT's were already en route for someone else who passed out. Word is he's OK, but it was not a good idea for them to be dressed in all that heavy garb with the furry hats too in the July heat. ANYWAY... I am scheduled for the endoscopy and the priority testing. They will be mailing instructions for the prep. Does anyone have advice on the endo? Does it hurt? I've had a colonoscopy before, but I was pretty drugged. I'm beginning to shop around for protein, I had no idea there was so much to look at-soy, whey, ect. Quite the challenge, I must say. And it's nearly impossible to find one that is in a small container. I'm not too big on spending so much for something that may make me gag. I plan to do mostly Atkins shakes, I've heard they taste the best, but I wanted to look for the "tasteless" protein to add to broth and tea and such. I'm so afraid of getting headaches from the lack of protein. Plans are in the works for the surgery for the care of my son, so he'll be away when it happens with his grandfather, and won't even know that I went in. I figure it's much easier that way. I've told him about mommy having an operation, but I've just told him that it will happen and then I won't be able to pick him up for a while, so he must be "brave". Doing some camping this weekend, maybe a trip to the pool if it's warm. Hopefully, this will be the last year I wear suits with built-in shorts, or those little skirts Enjoy the weekend. Anne

Hello everyone! I just found this site the other day. It sure is nice to find so many fellow CT residents online. I went for my endoscopy today at St Raphael's and it was a piece of cake (figuratively speaking!). I got out of the procedure room in about ten minutes! I was wide awake almost right away...sitting there whistling along with the oldies on the muzak system. Everyone around me were snoring...totally out of it! My surgery is on Tuesday...5:30am. Which means I'll have to leave Norwich around 4:15 to have time to spare when I get there! I might as well stay up all night! Oh well...I used to be in the Army and we had to get up at that hour loads of times. Sunday I'm having the family over for a picnic. I'll be relegated to a few ounces of chicken and some salad....I have to get that liver reduced for surgery! Whatever it takes.... Does anyone here go to the support group at Backus Hospital? I want to get involved with them...I understand they are wonderful. I'm so afraid of screwing this up...I truly want to get the most benefit from this surgery that I can. If I go back to my old snacking ways, I think I'll go nuts! The support group can help with that. Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences. Think of me on Tuesday.... Ann Miller

Hi Ann, Welcome to the CT Boards!! We are a great bunch and pretty active here on the boards. I don't know anything about the support group at Backus however there is one that meets once a month at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. It meets on the last Wed. (I think that is correct, I do have a schedule somewhere ) of the month and is not affiliated with any surgeon. All are welcome to attend. If you would like email me and I will pass on your email address to Ed who facilitates that meeting. I try to get to that meeting when I can as well as the one at Yale in New Haven. It really helps to have the support of others and to hear what is happening to everyone. Good luck on Tuesday. May your slide to the losing side be as uneventful and pain free as possible. I know you must be very excited. Please let us know how you are doing. Linda

Linda, I have heard about the group at Lawrence and Memorial, but prefer to attend a group that is run by a doctor. Dr. Sorley (sp?) runs the group at Backus and it is the only group (outside of the one they run) that my doctor accepts as a support group for his patients. I know that the gentleman who runs the group at L&M is good, but I have heard that when he isn't there, some pretty iffy things can get discussed and accepted as gospel. I have enough fears about this surgery and the life afterwards, I really want professional guidance to help me manuver through the coming months.
