Tentative Date

Hi All: I spoke to the intake woman at Yale today. She has me down for July 26th. This date is not firm until I hear from Dr.B's office (which should be by this thursday). I am so psyched!!! It is time for me to start getting everything ready. I have to clean this house from top to bottom. I bought some new PJ's to bring to the hospital and a little fan. I am not crazy about sharing a room. The only time I ever spent overnight in a hospital was after I had my son. I had my own room then. Oh well I will get over it. I am on vacation from work this week so hopefully I will get lots done around my house. I hope everyone is doing great. Chryssie

Hi Chryssie, Congratulations on your tentative date!!! It'll be here before you know it. Its so funny how we all seem to have the need to clean before our day comes. Must be a female thing You might luck out and get your own room, I did and I know several others who also did. Its just the luck of the draw. The first day or so you're not real with it so you might not even notice your room mate Well keep us up-to-date and remember we're all here for questions and venting!!! Best wishes, Mary Lou

Don't worry about having a roommate. I had two C-sections several years ago and had roommates both times. It can be a good thing. Someone to talk to when no one is around, or even to bounce off complaints to! I had one roommate who made me laugh for two days straight. I just put a pillow on my stomach and enjoyed. Really, you're only there for a few days, enjoy the person you are with!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! We won't be roomies, but we'll be "weekies" (same week more or less :-/) I need to clean too! UGH! CONGRATS!! JA

That's awesome Chryssie! I know it's been a long wait, now it's right around the corner! Man, I had a roomie that would grab the nurse before she could even get to me (this woman was VERY needy.. I think she had her gallbladder out or something). It ticked me off, b/c this woman COULD get out of bed and do things for herself. I only rang for the nurse when I needed to go to the bathroom and be disconnected to do so.. so I'd have to wait until they were done waiting on my roomie who was by the door. She was SO RUDE! She didn't even consider that I could really need some help over there .. her hairbrush and pillow fluffing was much more important. Grr.. Anyhow.. hopefully if anything like that happens you'll be much more vocal about it than I was. I'm a mouse when it comes to stuff like that.. I pretty much just take it. Ok.. not to scare you about a roommate though. I'm sure it will be fine. You'll probably be in lala land most of the time, so it won't be a big deal. Besdies.. you're at a different hospital, so I think that will make a big difference as far as service goes too. Keep us updated! I hope it comes sooner than you think.

Hey Chryssie. I am soooo excited for you and JA. . Your time will be here in a flash. Don't worry about the roommate thing. You aren't there long enough for it to make a real difference. The first day you are pretty out of it and if you have the 2nd surgery you don't even get to your room until like 8:00pm. The second day you go for your swallow test and that takes awhile and then you should be up walking around after that. The third day you get to go home after you have had your dose of ensure yummm........ Not much time for anything. Also you won't need pajama's as you will be hooked up to IV"S and such. and can't put your arm through a sleeve plus you will have a catheter in the beginning. You will be doing a happy real soon. YEAHHHHHHH WAHOOOOOOOOO !!! for both YOU AND AJ. All the patience paid off......and as for a roommate, like LInda said...dont worry about it...you will be too busy walking, and working on doing the things you need to do to get home.............i am very excited for the both of you!!!! ttyl deanna... ps..seeing youre home....remember my house is right around the corner if you are bored and wanna clean that too...heheheh
