Hi, I am 5 days away till my lap-band surgery in Danbury Hospital.  I am excited, nervous and anxious about the procedure.  Any uplifting advice would be most welcomed!

How exciting!  Don't have any real advice yet.  I am going to have my lap band on Feb. 11 at St. Raphael's Hospital but I am here to support you.  I have been told to follow the diet phases carefully since it will allow proper healing.  Good luck and Happy New Year!

Thank you.  What kind of surgery did you have? How are you doing?  Did you have a good experience with our doctor? Tina

Not too uplifting but when I freaked out BAD (look for the post called "Not gonna do this" Paula told me to breathe. Best advice I have been given. Deep cleansing breaths help you relax. I am right behind you two on Jan 15th at Middlesex.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Bring a pillow with you for the car ride home from the hospital.  The jiggling of your belly is not all that comfortable.  My first drink at the hospital was of Crystal Light Raspberry - mistake.  I drank it and then started my walk down the hall and threw it up.  Stick with water for just a liquid drink at first.  About the third week on full liquids is tough too but you can get through it. Other than that it has been wonderful.  You will be so happy you did this. I wish I knew about this when I was younger.  Get ready to gain your freedom from fat. Good Luck, Bev

Thank you for the advice Bev.  I, too, wish I knew about this when I was younger, then maybe I would not have become such a recluse!  I look forward to the freedom the weight loss is going to grant me!

Bev was right about the pillow for the car ride home - you will not regret that! Also, bring some breath spray and chap stick - you can't drink right out of surgery and if your mouth is really dry the breath spray will help with that cotton mouth and the chapstick if your lips get dry.

You are on a journey for better health - just take it slow and have patience with yourself.

Good luck

Congratulations on the upcoming surgery! Make sure you get up and start moving ASAP after surgery... I had surgery early morning, scheduled for 8am and that same evening I was being helped to my feet to try and walk ... wasn't very far I walked just frmo my bed to the door of the next room to me... and back... but start moving and keep moving as soon as you can!
