Support group & my ranting

Hi all! Just wondering if I'd be seeing any of you at the support group meeting this Wednesday 6/16?? I've got my 2nd follow up appointment and then I'm attending the meeting right after. I figured if I was driving that far, might as well make a day of it. ;) I had a really hard time last week for some reason. Nothing was agreeing with me, I was in pain of all sorts.. just uncomfortable all week. Anyhow, woke up Saturday feeling great. I have no appetite now. I'm eating about twice a day, 4 oz of pureed food a day (no meat yet). From what I've been reading about people's daily menus, I should be eating a little more, but hey, might as well ride with this as long as I can. I've been trying my best for water, but it's hard, as I feel full ALL day long from it. I've learned a couple of lessons in the past couple of weeks as well. First off, I can't swallow even one bite too fast. It causes these horrendous spasms in my esophagus. UGH!! AND locarb/sugar free ice cream, had some, tasted wonderful... 3 minutes later it came screaming out of me. The gas pains from that were awful too. That'll learn me. Even though these things suck.. I kind of like that I'm "learning a lesson".. which means I'm less likely to do stupid things. Well, that's enough of me ranting. I hope you guys had a wonderful time at the gathering. I wished I could have gone, but I'm moving to another state and have to be out of this place and set up in the next one and work 2 jobs at the same time. I'll definitely have to make one some day. All of you are awesome people and I can't wait to meet ya!! Take care, Michelle

Hi Michelle, Sorry to hear you had all those problems last week. I seem to be doing that this week, but not too badly. I had a weird pain all weekend under my rib cage and I ended up calling the on call doctor (*****ally knew nothing about bypass surgery), and the pain was gone this morning. I have been having a tough time drinking water too. If I drink too much I get a bad pain, if I don't drink enough I feel dehydrated. I feel yucky overall, but again not enough to complain to the docs. I also am blessed with PMS. I have been moody all day today about my job, blah blah. I have a support group meeting Wednesday too. The one in Danbury. I have no idea where Putnam CT is (shame on me...) so I don't know where your meeting is, but I'll be at mine. Anyway, I am glad you are feeling better now. Where are you moving to? I hope you will still check in on the CT boards though. Take care, Anne

Ooops! I forgot to say.. the meeting is in New Haven at St. Raphael's. Anne, I guess this "funky week" thing is something we're supposed to be going through. I had a LOT of pain on my left side, which turned out to be gas.. but it felt more like a strangulated ovary!! I had a pulled muscle as well as gas that moved up to my ribs. This weekend though, I woke up and have been feeling great ever since. Good to hear you're doing ok though. I know all the little things will pass. BTW.. Putnam is up in the very NE corner of CT on the Mass and RI borders. Pretty much nowhereville I can't believe how good I feel now. No hunger or real food cravings.. BESIDES dying for a dill pickle!! Go figure.

Ok, so Putnam is near Stonington, right? I stayed in a hotel once in Stonington so we could go to Misquamicut.. that's funny about the pickle. Hope your not craving ice cream too! I have been craving a hot dog. I told someone I may try to puree one when I can start on pureed later this week, but if I actually try it I may The idea of a mushed up hotdog, eewww. Won't know til I try though. Take care, Anne

I'm moving to Cranston, RI. Of course I'm going to stay on the CT boards!! I like all you guys.. AND have you seen the RI boards? I guess they don't like to talk over there. I have no idea where Stonington is, but that beach sounds familiar. I'm a native Texan, so I don't know where everything is just yet.

Hi Michelle - Right now I'm planning on attending the meeting at St Raph's on Wednesday. I'm post-op so I'll be getting there at 5:45, but say hi afterwards!!! Hugs, Carla

Hey Carla! I'll probably be going to the meeting at 5:00.. just to resoak in some more information. I can't wait to be at the "post-op" portion of it now!! It's still sort of unreal.. like I'm one of those people now. See ya there. I'll keep my eye out for ya. I'm hard to miss.. so if you see me, come say Hi.

Hi Michelle Sorry to hear you had a bad week. Water is so hard to get down. I can only get in about 40 oz a day. I am planning on going to the support group. Things have been crazy for me. First low blood pressure problems (down to one pill now) and then I had no energy at all. (Due to not eating enough carbs) There is soooo much to figure out. Anywho...I hope to see you tomorrow night. Maggie

See you tomorrow Maggie!! Kathy, it's actually 30 minutes faster to get to New Haven from RI than it is where I'm at.. so that will be nice.
