Support Group Meetings

I have been going to Dr.Aranow's support group meetings, and will continue to do so until he does my surgery on 7/2 and throughout the summer. I am wondering if there are any support groups not associated with a particular doctor in my area. I live in North Have and going out to Middletown is a bit of a jaunt for me. I want to make sure I get continued support post op...and want to make it as easy as possible for me to attend. Any information will be helpful. Thank you. Joanie

I had gone through the process in New Haven (only to be denied by insurance) and I know there is a support group out of St. Raphel's in New Haven. I would give them a call - Dr. Valin's office in New Haven can give you the information. Good luck with your surgery and finding a support group! Nancy

Joanie: There is a great support group in New Haven at Yale. It is mostly Dr.Bell's patients. Dr. Bell says the support groups are for the people it doesn't matter what group you go to it just important to go. We meet the 1st Tuesday of every month at Yale hospital at 6PM. It is in the Max Taffel room right near the main entrance. Like I said it is a great group & a good mix of per & post op people. You are so close you should give us a try. Hi Joanie: I know that some TOWNS have group support meetings. Ansonia has one at the Stop and Shop. It's a bit of a drive for you though (17 miles or so). But if you find nothing close to you, feel free to come on down!! Tara

Hi Joanie, St. Ray's does have one every month on the third Wednesday. They begin at 6PM. It is in the auditorium (sp?) of the hospital, they will validate parking too! Anne
