Is this normal??
I am 21 days post op. On the 13th day I was down 19 lbs. I have since lost only 6 more lbs. I've been stuck at the same weight for 8 days. Do you think this is normal? I haven't been eating bad things (not like I can!!) I've been doing my best for water, but not so much on protein, since I can't get much in during the day food wise.
Anyhow.. this is kind of worrisome, since I'm supposed to be down 6 more lbs. by this coming Wednesday. Any tips would be nice. It's really not helping that paranoia that says "this surgery might not work for me".
Thanks all
Michelle,
Don't worry. This is very normal. I halted for the third week as well and picked up again. I posted on another board and was assured that this was very normal.
I good way to get extra protein is protein shakes. I do 2oz of Atkin's shake with a scoop of flavored protein. It makes it taste like a milkshake.(Nice and thick)
You're doing great!!!
Maggie
Totally, totally normal. Your body is adjusting. At about the first month mark I didn't lose a pound for 2 weeks! I thought I was the freak it wasn't going to work for. Alas, almost everyone has this "adjustment" in the beginning.
You're doing great -- the weight will come off again, I promise!

Well, the same thing happened to me after 3 weeks. In the following 2 weeks I only lost 1 pound total! I didn't think it was possible to plateau so early in the process, but it is!
I'm still coming to grips with the fact that we cannot plan and estimate how much our bodies will lose over a period of time. It was REALLY hard for me to accept, since I planned on losing an average of 5 pounds a week.
At this point, I only get weighed at either the nutritionist or the surgeon. Luckily for me, I don't own a scale or I think I'd go out of my mind!
So, you are SO not alone in this. And I'm sure you will lose very well, but we surely do plateau...
Best of luck.
Linda.
