Hi All: Did your surgeon give you a goal weight? If so how did he arrive at the number? Thanks, Chryssie

Dr. Aranow gave me a weight that I can reasonably expect to get down to after the surgery. He took my start weight and then used the average percentage of weight loss by my type of WLS to figure out what my weight loss may be. It's far from what my goal weight should be but I would be happy to be at his "goal" for me since it's under 200 lbs. Haven't seen the one hundreds in a LONG long time! Eileen

Hi Chryssie, Dr. A told me that on average you lose 65-70% of your excess body weight which means he expects me to get down to at least 180#. However, he also said because I am younger than the average patient and have exercised in the past, that I could probably get lower. Being that I haven't been under 200# since I was 13 years old, I would be elated to be 180#!!! Christine
