Although I've been drinking a lot and moving, it seems the protein shakes are keeping things from..."moving along." (Okay, no gentle way to put it.) Any advise. I'm starting to feel like there's not allot of room left. Is decafe coffee okay? Anxious to hear your responses! Dee

Hi Dee, Well welcome to my world...... I seem to still be having those issues. Anyway, my doctor reccommended that I take some milk of magnesia to get my going. I also tried fiber choice chewables. Now I take 2 stool softners a day (sometimes 3) and that seems to help but I am not regular by any means. Decafe coffee is okay but since you are so newly post op I would hold off a bit on that. Just my opinion though. Linda

Ouch! I remember that vividly! Linda and I even chatted about that once - or comiserated about it The stool softeners worked the best for me, and I still take one every day, and will continue to do so until I'm done losing weight. The other thing is to keep up your fluids. I had this problem even after I started food, so I'm not sure if its the protein shakes or not - probably the new plumbing. Until you can call the doctor to confirm that you can take the stool softeners, take some Milk of Mag - it is safe, comes in liquid, and will work pretty well to get things moving along. Hope you feel better real soon! God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau Lap RNY 12/3/03 -90 lbs.

Thanks for the input ladies. I'll try to get my hands on some milk of magnesia soon. Just getting a little paranoid...blockage, problems, etc. Worry, worry. Thanks again for your support! Dee

Hey Dee, I had the same problem, at least getting things started. I too thought maybe I had some blockage problems, I couldn't go for almost a week after surgery. Then on it's own, things started up. Decaf tea is on my list of clear liquids from my surgeon. I also find tha****er keeps things regular too, believe it or not. All of the suggestions sound good, and you should definitely call your doctor if nothing happens soon. Anne

That's what I like about your ladies, you ask it how it is and you give the answer how it is. Those are the questions that are good to know.
