Psy Evaluation put on delay.
I went to the appointment thinking that everything was gonna go great well it didn't. He asked me some disturbing questions and spoke to me about food and the surgery how If I don't have eat enough protein I could lose my hair. If I don't follow this diet I could die but that didn't give up hope I still want this surgery. He just sayin I need to learn more about he lifestlye change after the surgery.I have been at this website many times before. I have had alot of positive feedback here And I know someone out there cares I just need some suggestions on what I should say to this guy to get him to pass my evaluation . And some lifestlye changes information Please
Hi Tasha,
Hmmm......sounds like this psychologist or psychiatrist needs to do some reading up himself. Yes there is a chance you will have hair loss but there is no proof that the amount of protein you have really has that much effect on whether or not you have hair loss. It does grow back by the way and I am not sure anyone has gone totally bald from it.... Yes you will have to change your life and you need to know that going into this. (not just you but all of us). We will always have to monitor what we eat and how much. We need to stay away from the bad foods even if we don't dump from them. That doesn't mean we can never eat anything good again. I have stayed away from potatoes, pasta, rice and bread and to tell you the truth I don't miss them. Occasionally I will be tempted but that passes very quickly. One of the biggest life style changes for me has been that I exercise regularly now. I never ever did that before. I do go out to eat at restaurants and enjoy good food. I am just selective as to what I choose now. There are big differences in the way we eat, cook, and live life but I have to tell you that the benefits are amazing and if you go into it with your eyes wide open and get as much info as you can you will do fine.

Hi Tasha,
Sorry you had such a tough time at the psych appt.
What he said is true, and is true for all of us. I imagine he justs wants you to be as prepared as possible. Try to let this be an opportunity to learn more and to be even more sure of the big step you are going to take. You might want to attend your surgeon's support groups, that will help, and continue to read this board and the helpful articles that are here as well.
If you are able to attend the get-togther next Saturday, I think it will be really good for you. You can talk to lots of people, and learn about their new life-styles, etc. Hope you can make it.
I'll be praying for you.
God Bless,
Kathy Bilodeau
