I'm having a terrible time trying to find a good psychologist who has any expecience with WLS. I feeling like I'm starting to slip into the old depression again. If you know of anyone in the central CT area I'd really appreciate your help.

Hi Hydi! I live in East Hartford and went to see Dr. Cynthia Wirth in Glastonbury. She is very good and is easy to talk to. She deals a lot with people with eating disorders and is very familiar with WLS. You didn't say where you lived but maybe this would be close enough for you. Hope this helps. Lucy H.

I live in Southington so that would be a reasonable drive. I'll have to look her up and see if she's approved by my insurance. Thanks!

I don't know anyone in that area, but I can ask my doctor (I have an appt. on Tuesday) for a recommendation. He's pretty in-the-know. Hang in there. I too battle depression and feel myself struggling right now. The best thing you can do is get help, and I'll see if I can find someone. I'm sure there are some lovely people on this website who may have recommendations for you as well. Good luck! Kathy F.

Thanks! I used to take Lexapro but stopped when I had the surgery. At first it was because it was hard for me to take and then I was on such a high that I didn't think I needed it. But, it's time. All those classic signs are back and among other things it's hampering my desire to get out of the house (AND IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO GET OUT!) and exersize. I need the help of a psychologist though. The Lexapro was perscribed by my GP and I think I could use a real analysis and definetally some help with the weight issues. I've really felt like a nut job lately.

I also saw Dr. Wirth for my psych eval and she is wonderful. All she sees are patients with eating disorders or sexual abuse so she has a lot of experience with WLS. What insurance do you have? I have Connecticare and she was covered.
