Hello,  Everyone I am new to this site, but i have already had weight loss surgery. I had Lap Band surgery on Sept. 24 of this year. I am being to get frustrated. I have loss 40 lbs since my surgery including the diet before surgery, but im really staring to slack off. I have only lost 3 pounds in the last 3 weeks, and I haven't been eating all that great. I also haven't really been working out. I know that this is my fault but i just have not be motivated. As anyone else ever felt like this at some point of time? I need some motivation here.  Thanks, Tina

Yes, I've felt that way...  however I remind myself of why I did this, what my goal is and the fact that unless I do what the doctor and NUT taught me and drilled in me I will not reach my goals.   Therefore i make myself go to the gym, regardless of whether I like it or not.  I pick up my 5lb hand weights every chance I get and use them even if its for a quick 5min.

I run up and down the stairs to do laundry rather than have someone else do it so I can get a work out that way.  I do anything I can do keep moving and working out.   I also try to plan my meals ahead.  I know it doesn't always work out and I'm still having issues with some foods (some that settle today may not settle so great tomorrow)... but I keep a journal online of my food intake, protein intake and I try to post on here as well, although been slacking but now that i am posting this I'm posting my journal right after.

At three months, I was still a good little soldier, but into my fourth year, I did start to question where my motivation had gone. A few things that helped were: (1) staying active in support groups-- seeing others who shared their successes and failings helped me to feel much less isolated; (2) talked to counsellor to help me refocus and (3) tried to figure out if gaining weight would make me as happy as I felt when  I was losing or maintaing. Your surgeon has support group meetings lead by trained professionals.  Plus, at Norwalk Hospital (which I know would be a hike for you) we have peer-lead support group meetings twice every month (first Wednesday and the third Monday starting at 6 pm in the first floor volunteer conference room),  Our meetings are free and open to all post-operative bariatric patients.

Welcome Tina - I just wrote how I haven't been posting here too much lately -just wanted to let you know that it's normal for many people (myself included) to lose motivation along the way - while there are others who draw a line in the sand and just keep marching straight - what is the difference between them and others I don't know - but it is truly a "head" thing as far as motivation goes - too bad it doesn't come with the surgery which is only a body thing! I look at before and after pictures of people for inspiration........reaching out is another way to get motivated! You've done great - 40 pounds is equal to 5 gallons of milk - picture the volume of 5 gallons of milk no longer on your body!

Hope you find the motivation you are looking for - you can do it!!
Warm Regards - Tammy -
