Hi Everyone There has been so much valuable info available from everyone's input but I am wondering if there seems to be an overall favorite list of shakes and vitamins that everyone likes? My surgery is July 29 and I'm just trying to organize myself as to what exactly I'll be drinking right after surgery so I don't even have to think about it! The nutritionist at my doctors office recomments Nitro-Tech, Prue Pro Juice Drinks or Resource Optisource. I also heard that Atkins pre-mixed Protein Drink (20 grams) is pretty good. On day of discharge, we are supposed to start Designer Whey Protein Powder mixed with Lactaid Milk Also - I was told to take Optisource Chewable vitamins after along with Vitamin B-12 (injection or pill) I know every doctor is different with their procedures but I'm just seeing what's out there! Thanks! Leslie

I bought a protein powder from the internet called "All the Whey". It is flavorless and I mix it into everything. It dissolves really well. Don't go overboard buying things for after your surgery though because you'll be surprised at how little you actually use. And your tastes will probably change too. I use childrens chewable vitamins with iron and a B-12 pill that goes under my tounge. Good luck. I hope this helped. Christine

Hi Leslie, First of all - congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I know how exciting this time is for you, and your mind will wonder about a million things! Believe it or not, it is much easier than you think it will be. My advice would be to just get the ones the nutrionist suggests or what your surgeon suggests. Don't buy many others, you'll end up with a big collection like the rest of us Are you coming to the get-together on the 12th? You will be able to find out lots of stuff there? Hope to meet you soon. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau Lap RNY 12/3/03 -90 lbs.

Howdy from Texas, Leslie!!!! My brother had his RNY 2 years ago and has been on 2 Flintstones vitamins a day ever since. His physician said that they are the easiest to absorb, plus they are easy to chew and digest since they are made for children and they cost less than the others. When he was on his first few months, he used the Carnation Instant breakfast. He said it sat on his stomach easier and tasted better. Hope that helps. Andrea
