Hello Mary Jo Hubby Here POST OP
Hello Everyone
I am Tom Mary Jo's Hubby. I am 9 days post op and can i say i have felt wonderful. My first day home on sunday was a little uncomfortable, and that was the only day i used 2 doses of tylenol w codine.
I have NO PAIN or discomfort. I have been able to Sleep in bed on back and sides (dont want to try belly yet). I am absolutely shocked that basically i felt this way since Monday. I can walk no problems, Do house work (to a certain extent i do not want to test the limit)
I am able to drink my liquid and DO NOT GET FULL or that backed up feeling. I noticed when i did my Barium Drink test in the hospital i saw it on the screen and it looks like fluid just passes through the stomach (at least thats what mine looks like) Is that sound right that liquids pass through and solids would take longer?
I have none of the isssues that my wife mary jo had as far as eating goes. And i am very happy but wondering if anyone has had this wonderful recovery. Im hoping to go fishing (for smaller fish) next weekend.
Thx for listening
Tom
Hey there Tom!!
So glad to hear you are doing so very well as a post-op. Before you know it you'll be dropping lbs like crazy!
Basically, I experience the same thing with liquids. You need to drink a lot of them before you get a full feeling. But I wouldn't worry about it at this stage. You need to drink tons - so just keep it up. Later on, when you get into the softer foods you'll see the fullness start happening a lot quicker.
Anyways, glad all is well!! See you on the 12th!
Hugs,
Carla
Welcome Tom,
Wow glad to see you are feeling so good. Some of us have an easier time with this than others but it is still a major change and hard work. I had little to no pain and my recovery was very easy. Of course I had it done laproscopically so no insicion but have never gotten sick or had any real problems. Liquids do go right through our stomachs and that is why once you start eating solid food you shouldn't be drinking 1/2 hour before during or 1/2 hour after your meals. You want your body to be able to feel full and the food to stay with you for a while so you don't get hungry too soon. Enjoy your fishing trip next weekend and we will see you on the 12th!!
