Vomiting

Hi, I am 3 months out, down 69 pounds. I have had a lot of trouble since the surgery. I had an abcessed blood clot in my stomach which required hospitalization for 10 days. When I finally was able to eat again, I started throwing up. I have had to go into the hospital 2 times to have a stricture taken care, however, I am still throwing up every day!!! I am getting so discouraged and don't know what to do. I have this constant feeling of a lump in my throat, but the doctor says there is nothing wrong. Eating is becoming a very uncomfortable thing to do. I get so sick after I eat that I just don't want to eat anymore! Has anyone had these problems? Any suggestions, it doesn't seem to matter what I eat, it all comes back up! Even water sometimes!

You poor thing! I'm sorry it's been so rough for you. I believe, if you don't finde satisfaction with your current, look for another expert in the field and ask that person's opinion. It certainly sounds like there's something holding up the works! I throw up, but it's usually because I ate something too fast or with something I shouldn't have had -- last night I threw up all night because I was upset, but it's gone the next day -- clearly not the same thing. I'm sure we can find you a dr. close to home to take a second look at things. Take good care of you! Kathy F.

Looks like the 3 Kathy's are all in agreement . Something doesn't sound right to me. I would suggest getting a 2nd opinion from another specialist. You should not be vomiting this frequently - I've never thrown up! I'll be praying that you get the help you need fast! God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau Lap RNY 12/3/03 -87 lbs.

Hi Ann Marie, I'm so very sorry that you have had such a tough time. Please don't take this the wrong way but I feel that there is something wrong with your doctor if he thinks nothing is wrong with you. Frequent vomitting is not normal. Tell your doctor that you need something done and its not all in your head. This condition can lead to dehydration and malnutrition and he should be aware of that. I don't mean to scare you but am really concerned for your health. Please contact your doctor again and if you get no satisfaction, see another doctor. Please let us know how you are doing, we are all here to support you and help you thru this. Believe in your heart that this will pass, sending lots of hugs your way, Mary Lou

Ann Marie, It seems to be the unanimous advice here. Get yourself to another doctor who will take you seriously. This is not anything to play around with, it could be very serious. As Mary Lou said you could wind up with even more serious complications from not drinking and eating. Don't put it off. Go to the ER if necessary. I am not usually an alarmist but you need to get help if you can't keep anything down. Please let us know how you are doing. Linda
