Consult Date Set & told my boss about surgery
Very Cool! I called and made my consult appointment with Dr. Aranow for July 14th. (3 days after the Kenny Chesney Concert I'm going to and 5 days before my 31st birthday. Yikes.) After last nights meeting with Dr. Aranow, I have completely quit the smoking. (I was cheating a few a day) And I am getting rolling on a diet. Gonna start trying now to get my weight down as much as I can before the surgery. From what Dr. Aranow said about the magnified risk with such an extreme BMI of 69 I need to do everything I can to lower that risk. I've failed so many times before but in the past my goal was to lose 150 lbs. Now, if I can lose 30, 40, 50 lbs. I can greatly improve the odds and start getting used to lower calorie intake. One more stab at the ol' diet for the gipper.
Very Cool 2!!! I was in a meeting with my boss today and we were talking about projects coming around this fall and I decided to let him in on my surgery plans. He was overwhelmingly supportive of me and pledged to do everything he can to accomodate me. What a huge relief. I am so thankful for having such a great job and such a great employer.
I really wanted to go to the community get together, but I just got my schedule for June today at work and I have to work that day. I'm gonna see what I can do to swap dates with someone but with the potential of losing a month of work soon, I dont want to pu**** I am planning on being at Dr. Aranows support group meetings in the next week or two. Looking forward to meeting some of you then.
Till Then...
God Bless!
Good Morning Jim,
That is so wonderful new I am going to group support on June 21 and June 28th. I am sitting front row because of interpreter. Come to me and chat with me there. I won 't bite you I know it will be hard to stop smoking but you heard what Dr. Aranow said about smoking issue. I know you can do it because you want to be more heathlier and can live longer. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed that you can make it on June 12 th. We all love to meet you at party and will support you all the way if you ask for support from us.
Kathy
COngrats Jim on both the quitting smoking and on the consult date.
It sounds like you are very excited. It is pretty great that your boss is behind you on this. I pray that when it comes time to tell mine (as im only in the beginning stages of this) that she be as supportive as your boss, as this is something i really need to do. You will be in my prayers

James that's great. Congratulations on getting your consult date.
Sounds like you're in the right frame of mind. Dieting preop isn't as hard because you know there is a reward in site. I did a lot of Atkins shakes, protein bars and egg beaters prior to surgery and allowed myself one good meal a day for supper. You'll be surprised at your success.
I'm so happy for you that your employer is so supportive. That is huge.
Wish you could make the gathering, but I completely understand. I hope to meet you another time.
Maggie
Hi Jim,
You sound ready to really commit. Your positive attitude will get you through. July will be here before you know it. Having supportive people around you makes life and work so much better.
I am a teacher and the other teachers and staff have been amazing. They don't let a day go by without telling me how great I look. I also have 175 little cheerleaders who tell me how nice I look and the littlests of ones with a smile "You look really different Mrs. Stangle. What's different? Did you get new glasses?"
Good luck Jim.
