My surgery is next Wednesday, June 2nd. Any last minute advise anyone would like to share about what to expect my hospital stay to be like. That's the part I am most worried about. THANKS!

Hang in there, you'll be fine. The last week is the hardest time! I'm sure that nobody loves to stay in the hospital, but, you'll be resting and sleeping most of the time, so it won't be too bad. My advice to you is to walk as much as possible as soon as possible and make sure you take good care of yourself! Think about bringing a fragrance splash or lotion that you like to pamper yourself a little in the hospital. I also found the moist towlette toilet tissues to be very helpful (brought them with me) during my hospital stay. Good luck to you!! Lisa C

You'll do fine. I had my surgery done at St. Raphael's, so I can't help you with what the hospital stay will be like, but I just wanted to say good luck and walk, walk, walk. Maggie

Hi Robin, Good luck next week!!! May your slide to the losing side be as uneventful and pain free as possible. Don't stress the hosptial too much because you won't be there long. The first day is your surgery and you won't remember a whole lot of that. The second day is your leak test when you go for a barium swallow to check for leaks. Once you have that you get to drink a little bit of water every hour. Be sure to bring your toothbrush and your own toothpaste. Your mouth with feel Yucky and brushing helps because you really can't drink enough to quench that thirst. Walk as much as you can and then the next day you get to go home. You don't need to bring much with you, a robe and your toothbrush and toothpaste and a brush for your hair pretty much does it...... Keep us updated!! Linda

I have no great advice to add to all that's been said, I pretty much agree that they've covered the bases, I just wanted to wish you luck. I was pretty much in a fog for 2 days, slept a good amount of time, so didn't have to worry about anything but brushing my teeth and hair. Just let the things happen as they do, relax as much as you can and focus on getting out of the hospital. Walking of course, helps you feel much better and gets things moving. Best of luck to you!! See ya on the losing side! Michelle
