I just wanted to say a quick hello! I got home from the hospital today, around 2 p.m. I couldn't get home fast enough. People are nice at the hospital, but there's no place like home. A lot quieter here. Thanks for visiting me, Maggie and Mary Jo, that was super sweet of ya. Oh yeah, I had an in house visitor too, Tom, Mary Jo's husband. I can't believe how great he was doing. That's fantastic though. Well, I can't say it was a totally joyous experience, but not as horrible as I thought it would be. The first night I was very nauseas, probably from the Morphine, but the 2nd day I was able to get up and walk. Now that I'm home, I'm just really sore. My chest and throat are really sore, but I'm sure that's from the breathing tube. Other than that, I'm low on energy right now, everything's in spurts. I'm sure as each day goes by it will get better. I will have to take some pics of the wounds (gross, I know), but one thing I was curious about before surgery was what they would look like. I'm pretty impressed. (Hated the removal of the drainage tube ) Well, that's about it for now. I gotta figure out how to slow down my drinking, I still want to gulp and need to make broth last 30 minutes. Thanks for all the good thoughts and support! Take care, Michelle

Michelle, Glad to see you are okay. Its posts like yours that make me sure that i am going to be okay by having this done. Just think...you are on the other side now and all there is to do now is lose..lose...lose...definitely take pics of the wound as i am pre-op and very curious too.....one of the main things that scares me is the breathing tube. Did you feel it come out or did they take it while you were under?? and did they put it in while you were under?? i had a hysterectomy two years ago and i never had to deal with it because they did it all while i was under. again....great you are home and a LOSER.....and good luck on your next step. !!! I'm so glad you're home and feeling ok. I took pictures of my wounds. I wanted them for my scrapbook. (I was thinking that I might be a little freak) I lucked out with the drain as I pulled mine out in recovery and they never put it back in. From what I hear, I'm lucky. It is so hard to make meals last. That is the toughest part for me. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing. I'd love to keep in touch. Maggie

Congrats Michelle! It sounds like you're doing great! I'm sure as each day goes by things will get better and better! I'm anxious to hear about your progress as June 1 is my big day, and I'm getting a little nervous. Still kinda freakin' out about the whole "drain thing." Any other thoughts or ideas to share? What you were glad your brought, what you wished you had, etc. Thanks for keeping in touch! Rest and recuperate well! Dee
