Tonya Sherrod, from West Hartford, CT
Hello Bandsters,
I will be getting my first fill on 6/1/2004 @ 3:00pm. I wanted to know if there was anyone out there who has had there fill and how did you fill afterwards. I know that my surgeon stated that some patients didn't have any pain after the fill and some patients had nausea. I would really like to hear from you guys as to how your first fill effected you and how much more weight you lost afterwards. I know that you have to fast on liquids for 3 days after the fill. I am a little scared because I (HATE) pain and needles but I will get through it. My surgery was successful and painless except for the discomfort I had in my shoulder from surgery due to the air that was inserted in my body so that the surgeon was able to move around easy. I know that I will eat less and that will be great I will be going on my cruise in mid October and I will be a my goal weight. I wish everyone reading good luck on there appt, stay strong and think about how great you will feel after that excess weight is off and you are a new person. My theme song is I'm Coming Out by Diana Ross.
Tonya:
You'll be fine.
I've had three of fills, plus some taken out, and they are no big deal. (Of course, I have had 2 tattoos, one of which was 2-1/2 hours straight, so needles aren't an issue for my anymore.)
I was given a local anesthetic so there wasn't much pain - little probing sensation after that, but nothing much. Nothing after the fill needle was removed - no pain or nausea. The only nausea I have had is when I got too much of a fill and was vomiting. When some was taken back out, I was fine. [Laughs] On the plus side, for the 2 weeks before some was taken out, I lost 14 pounds.
I had my surgery December 2 and have lost somewhere over 95 pounds (it varies day to day.)
Good luck with fill #1!
