Hello I have finally arrived to my before surgery weekend I havent bought any protein drinks yet and am going out to get all of this today.Any suggestion on how much to have on hand and whats the best brands? I have the pill crusher, vitamins, and a few liquids but am hitting a block because I have read so many times that everyone says they wish they hadnt bought so much. My mind is going a million miles a minute and all my thoughts are rambled. To get a laugh how bad I am I easy off oven cleaner the laundry stains my daughter asked me if it was a new way for stains. I didnt even realize what I had done till I was looking at the can. LOL thanks everyone Kim My date is May 25th

Wow Kim, it's getting close As far as protein shakes, I am 11 days out and my preference is the Atkins shakes. I like them best. I totally understand about going a million directions at once. I've said before, I bought baby spoons and a sippy cup and these really helped me learn to go slow and sip. Best wishes to you, Maggie

Maggie thanks for the advice I did buy a sippy cup but I forgot about a baby spoon add that to my list. I didnt think about the atkin shakes. Do you use protein powders also? There is so many products Im confused on what to buy. How has it been for recovery? Kim

I do use some protein powder mixes as well. What I did is order a bunch of samples from vitalady.com to see which ones I liked. I also use the sugar free syrups to flavor them. I have tried a lot of them, and they are all good. It just gives you a good variety of flavor. I myself do not care at all for the Iso Pur protein sources. That's just my opinion. I like shopping with Vita Lady. She is a Post Op as well. Check out her story on the web site. Maggie

Hi Kim, As Maggie said try to get a couple of samples of things without purchasing a whole lot of anyone particular brand or flavor. You might find that your taste buds have changed after surgery and what might taste good now won't afterwards. I used Propelet Gold.....The Pineapple/Vanilla and the Banana Flavor for a couple of months post op but don't use any at this point. I get in more than enough protein through what I eat now. I had and still have samples from a few different sources. I really like bariatriceating .com and have found Susan Maria's site very helpful and their customer service is outstanding. I also like the Atkins Cafe au Lait drinks. I haven't tried any other flavors though. Same thing with the protein bars. I have tried several different ones but don't use them regularly.......only when traveling or in a pinch. They are good to carry in your purse or in the car in case of emergency. I found that having a 32oz container for my water really helps me keep track of how much I drink. It will seem hard in the beginning to get your water (or fluids) in but I have no problems in that area at all. I am on my fourth bottle right now. Good luck with your surgery and remember we are here for you!! May your slide to the losing side be as uneventful and painf ree as possible. Linda
