Hi angel, I did make it to the meeting Monday night and enjoyed it very much. Very inspiring to hear all the wonderful results and to hear tips about what to expect. I plan on going as regularly as I can. My husband works most evenings so it's difficult to get out in the evenings. You have stated that you are almost done with testing, how long after your initial consult with Dr. Aranow did the specialists call you that you aren't allowed to call (i.e. nutritionist etc) and how long did it take to get an appt? It says on the sheet that they will call you in 2-3 weeks but I am hoping that it won't take that long. I am trying something new....being patient but I would feel better just knowing the appts are scheduled.

Most of the consults called me in about three weeks....one did'nt call and when I called Dr A's office they told me to wait another week. Most of the consults apts were about a month later unless you get a cancellation. So you see patience is a key here. just when I thought I was done my pcp wants a stress test...it's ok though I do want to make sure all is well before surgery. We pre ops all want our surgery asap: if they called me I would go tomorrow....so good luck with the patience angel

Hi, Eileen!! I'm glad you had a good consult with Dr. Aranow. He's the best! I had open RNY surgery Jan. 26th and I'm doing great! It's the best thing I ever decided for myself. You mentioned going to see Dr. Cynthia Wirth (Psychologist). I went to see her and liked her the second I met her. She made me feel very comfortable and was very easy to talk to. Her office is about 5 minutes from my house so it was nice to not to have to travel to Middletown for that. The Psych test took me about 2-1/2 hours to do. I also had to have an Endoscopy (done at Middlesex) and sleep testing done (which I had done at Manchester Memorial). The Endoscopy was a piece of cake. I told them ahead of time of my gag reflex and don't remember much of what went on. Which was a really good thing. The sleep test was more involved. I ended up having to sleep overnight twice because I didn't get enough sleep the first night to give them concrete information if I had sleep apnea or not. The second visit I slept just enough to get that information. I did have sleep apnea and was fitted with a CPAP machine. I'm still struggling with wearing the mask at night. I can't stand anything on my face. Since the surgery though I have been sleeping so good that it's made a real difference in my life. I wake up refreshed and clear minded. I use to wake up every two hours during the night and now I can go up to 4-6 hours of sleep before waking up. What a difference!!! Hope all your testing goes well and I'll be looking to see when you get your date for your surgery. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Lucy
