Hi all, This is my first time posting any messages here - smile - it is nice to meet you all and read all of your postings! I had my Gastric Bypass Surgery (lap) on April 22nd. I tried fish for the first time today. I had Haddock for lunch and shortly after eating it I felt so tired, I had to take a nap I couldn't fight it. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something I should be concerned about or maybe I did something wrong? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks all and have a great day - smile Beth

Welcome Beth: How was the fish cooked? It sounds like you dumped with out the throwing up part. How is everything else going? Chryssie

Hi Chryssie, The doctor's office told me that "Dumping Sydrome" was fast heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, light-headedness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and crampy abdominal pain, which I didn't have any of these. I just couldn't stay awake as hard as I tried, I ended up taking about a 1 1/2 hour nap and woke up just a little groggy, but now feeling ok. I put some Old Bay Seasoning, Mrs, Dash and lemon juice on the Haddock and than microwaved it. Thanks for trying to help, I am at a lost - smile Have a good evening Chryssie ! Beth

Beth: Several people I know who have already had the surgery have the same experience if they consume too many carbs. That is why I asked how the fish was cooked. They tell me they become so tired all of a sudden and have to lay down. I thought this fell under "dumping" as well. Chryssie

Hi Beth, Welcome to the boards. Please keep an eye out for more info on the CT Gathering. Mary Lou will be posting all the details really soon. It is on June 12th so save the date!! Chryssie was correct about the dumping. There are actually two kinds of dumping, an immediate and a more long term. Then people have different reactions. A bone deep weariness is one, where you have to sleep for a while and then feel fine upon waking. It has something to do with our blood sugar levels. I don't remember the exact reasons but know that can be considered dumping. I would check out the Library here on OH if you want more info. Sounds like you are doing great. Don't get discouraged or compare yourself with others. Your body is going through alot of adjustments and will fight losing at times. Just keep following your doctor's orders, drink and exercise. Good things will happen . Linda
