Delurking and a question

Hi all, I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks and finally decided to take the plunge and introduce myself! My name is Eileen and I am PreOp. I live in West Hartford with my husband and three children. My first appointment with Dr. Aranow is next Wednesday. I am very excited about getting the surgery done. I have been researching for a couple of years now and even went as far as getting a surgery date with Dr. Valin the year before last and then I chickened out. I felt like I had to give a "regular" diet one more try. I did atkins for about a year and lost about 50 lbs and then gained it all back and more in less than 3 months So here I am. I really feel like I am totally committed this time. I look forward to getting to know all of you better and hope that I can one day be an inspiration to a newbie here My question is, does anyone know of a site with a list of diets. I am making out my list for insurance reasons and have come up with a bunch but I know there are ones that I have tried and forgotten about since I have been dieting just about my entire life. I would like the list to be as thorough as possible so that my insurance company will see that I have tried on my own and failed every time! Thanks in advance for any info you can give!

Welcome Eileen, Glad to have you join us. I am not aware of any site that lists diets but you might want to check in the library here at OH. My guess is there would be something there. Good luck with your journey and don't be a stranger!!! Linda

I'm sorry, I don't know of a site like that. I have an idea tough...could you go to barnes& nobel.com and look in the book category of diets and see what's listed. Most major diets have a book or two written about them. Maybe that will help jog your memory. And, lastly, WELCOME. We're glad you're not anonomus and lurking any more! Lisa C

Hi, The Coastal Center for Obesity (in California) has a website that includes a pre-op questionare that lists a lot of diets. I printed it out, filled it out and used it as a guide for listing my diets and co-morbidities. I wrote it out including how much I weighed and how much I lost then took that along with a letter telling my PCP why I wanted the WLS. I gave the letters to the nurse, the doc read them and came in and gave me a referral, so quickly I was almost offended!!!! Good Luck CJ
