Guess what I get the honor of having during surgery and my stay in the hospital? My period. I hoped that it would have been avoided, but unfortunately, my meds determine when it's coming. Bummer. Anyhow.. anyone else lucky enough to have to deal with this at this time? I'd like for it not to be there, but I'm not giving up my surgery date for nothing!!

Michelle: It may not really make a difference. I have read lots of posts that say women get their period right after surgery anyway due to the stress and being put under. So just look at it as you probibly would have gotten it anyway. Hope this makes you feel a little better anyway. Chryssie

Lucky you indeed!! I didn't have it for the initial surgery, but I had to have a second surgery for complications, and I got my period while I was in the hospital for that. The positive side is that you'll be so drugged up you won't feel the pain of cramps. The negative side is having the necessary equipment, etc. The hospital will give it to you; if you know in advance, you might want to bring some pads from home so you feel more comfortable. It might bring up some interesting questions if you're still on a catheter when it comes ... something to ask the dr./his nurse about. DEFINITELY not worth postponing surgery!! Good luck!!! Kathy F.

Hi There Kathy, It isn't fun....but manageable.. I was lucky enough to have my surgery in the morning and around midnight that night... I awoke....to it... WHAT A MESS!!! but...it got me up and out of my bed... The 'cool' thing for me was I didn't have to deal with all the cramps...cause the drugs took care of that for me!!! Best wishes!
