How much to eat?
Hi Eternity,
Congrats on surgery...ok I was the same way and my doctor said that although I may be able to eat more than the recommended amount, you really shouldnt because your pouch will get use to it. So measure, measure, measure. Try really hard not to eat more than the 2 oz, pretty soon you will be able to eat 4 oz. I am 5 months post op and I can eat about 9 oz and I was instructed not to. It is really hard, but if you consume more liquids your pouch will fill up alot quicker.

Hi
I'm 4 weeks out also. Sometimes I can eat more than 2 oz depending on the type of food. I'm eating lots of stuff (chicken, soup, yogurt, hot cereal, tuna fish, egg salad,) My body is pretty good at telling me when it's had enough. Just eat slowly and you should get a feeling for the bite that would be "one bite too many". Also, it helps not to drink with your meals. Keep up the good work -- good luck
Hi Eternity - CONGRATULATIONS! I had my surgery on December 17, 2003. I remember not wanting to eat that first month very much. I was more thirsty than anything but that is just me; you might be completely different.
When I did eat, I had my carnation instant breakfast shake, jello, apple sauce and college Inn soup. I really didn't consume much until about 6-8 weeks out. I guess it was just being so uncomfortable that I didn't feel too hungry.
Good Luck, Denise
