Question About Pain - 3 Mos Post Op

Hi everyone! I haven't posted for a while and have been checking the board periodically. It seems everyone is doing fabulously. I do have a question I hope the post ops can help with. I am 3 months post op and every few days, I experience a dull pain in my left side, directly behind my lowest rib. When I notice it, it only lasts a couple minutes and then either goes away or I become distracted from it. I have wondered if it was from overeating or if something else could be causing it. I have had this pain off and on ever since the first day in the hospital and thought it was a normal part of the healing process. Though, I would have assumed it would have subsided by now. I know I should contact the Dr and ask him, but I just haven't had a chance to do that yet. Has anyone else had this experience? I thought I'd check with you in the interim. Thanks for your feedback! Lyn - You look like you're doing fabulously yourself! Congrats!! I don't/haven't had the same experience as you but would think that pain is an indicator that something isn't right. Please try to make the time and call your surgeon. Better safe than sorry. Good luck. becky 3.3.04 (396)330/293/175

Hi Lyn, I hate to admit yet another "problem" here, but I had the same thing. It was from some nerve he cut. I guess it's very common and it did eventually go away. And I know exactly what you mean, not enough of a problem to go to the doctor about, but annoying for sure. That being said, I still think if you have any question involving pain 3 months out you should follow your gut (no pun intended) instinct and call the doc. BTW, you look fabulous! hugs Cheryl

I actually have a similar pain on my right hand side, below my rib. I've spoken to my doctor about it, and he said it could be a hernia. I've got an appointment with him next week so I'll be looking into it in more detail. Take care of you! Kathy F.

Thanks Becky, Cheryl and Kathleen! Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate knowing there can be several reasons behind the pain. I plan on contacting the Dr. this week. Hopefully it is nothing major.
