In a Fix!!!!
This is off-topic in many ways, but I'm having an awful time. I've been treated fairly poorly by my boss(es) since I returned from being out for 2 months from the surgery and accompanying complications. It's only gotten worse, and I got a phone call from my boss at 6:30 a.m. today because the limo I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY reserved for him was nowhere to be found & there was no record. He isn't speaking to me, and basically threatened to make tomorrow my last day if I don't come up with confirmation slips (of course the limo company is NOT being helpful!). Technically, with a large corporation they can't just arbitrarily fire me when they've never reported anything negative to HR on me before, but I'm still scared/upset/feeling awful. And you know what I want to do ........ EAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want chocolate, sugar, comfort food, anything that will stop the anxiety. I had a chocolate kiss, and if there were more I would have eaten more!
Please give me any advice, prayers, wisdom, commiseration if you can. I really need it. I can't stand the ideal of being fired!! The job sucks, but still ... I want to be the one leaving on my terms!
Thanks for e-listening.

Kathleen.. sorry to hear about your situation. I hope everything goes ok for ya. Keep bugging the limo people until you get what you need.
Don't let the boss take control of your actions. I know it's easier said than done though. What he's doing is childish. Mistakes happen and playing cold shoulder or threatening isn't going to make them any better. Keep us posted and stay positive!

Hi Kathy,
Stay strong. You have proven through these last several months since your surgery that you can make drastic lifestyle changes. We are going to be tested from time to time on how strong we can be. You have taken the first big step in realizing that your cravings are emotional and not hunger. Make a list of things other than food that would make you feel good and relaxed. Keep that list posted for emergency situations. Clothes shopping has become good for me though not good for the credit card but I know something now that I didn't before. "I'm worth it!"
Good luck.
Carolyn
Kathy-
Know what I would do? I would call the limo company and get the manager first thing and in my sweetest voice tell him the fix I am in and let him know what I am dealing with and ask if he would send you the confirmation and you'll make sure all future business goes to him. Start it off by telling him how you've always gotten such great customer service from them (even if it isn't true) and how you know he stands by his company. Lay it on as thick as you have to to get that confirmation.
THEN look for another job!!! I would also report him to HR for threatening you!!!
Let me know how you make out. Don't eat sugar, it will only make you sick and mad at yourself and YOU DID NOTHING WRONG!!!

All of you are wonderful! It was so nice to see the positive words from you all. What a gift to have this site & so many great people on it!
The limo co. never came up with the receipt, but he called my boss to apologize for the mix-up & sent a bottle of champagne to he and his wife as they were taking them to a restaurant post-seminar.
I haven't spoken to him yet, but I have spoken to HR about what happened and I'm going to tell my boss today that I'm applying for another position within the company and I hope he'll be man enough to be decent about it.
Thanks again for the good thoughts!
Love,

I'm sorry you have to go through this. I'm a manager and I've owned my own company and had employees to 'deal' with. There is no excuse for this behavior.
You know, I'm kinda mean (OK and maybe a little vindictive) when it comes to mis-treatment by leaders and bosses. THe person has no right to 'cold shoulder' you. It's immature and just plain stupid. Who have NEVER made a mistake at work? Apparently, your boss hasn't.
I'd get myself on down to human resources and report that your boss is creating a hostile work environment for you. He is NOT allowed to do that.
If you're going to loose your job, then you should at least fight so that they dismiss you with cause, or you have a case for unemployment.
Just my two cents. Don't get sad, get MAD and do what's right for you.
P.S. What company do you work for, so I never apply there?
Kathy,
That's a terrible situation you are in! I'm sorry you are experiencing this torture, but DO NOT LET THAT IDIOT BOSS CONTROL YOUR SUCCESS! I worked for 9 yrs for a horrible boss like that, and finally he retired! So if you keep your cool, it will all work out. My former boss allowed someone to call me a FAT B_ _ _H, and he and HR never did a thing about it, except ignore me.
SO I know the feeling. Good luck, and keep your chin up!! GO GET 'EM!

Hi Kathy,
I work in HR. My advice - document, document, document. Keep great notes, with dates, times, who said what, etc.
What did your HR department say? I hope they were supportive. Of course, you have to give them permission to discuss it with your boss, or nothing can come of it. I get lots of people who want to discuss things about their bosses, but they don't want me reveal what was said - its hard to correct a situation like that.
The other thing that might be helpful would be to tell him that you feel that he overreacted about the limo - which is obvious by the fact that the limo company apologized and sent champaigne. Suggest that he owes you an apology!
Let me know if I can be of any help.
God Bless,
Kathy Bilodeau
