Summer Get-Together
Cheryl - Some things to think about -- should families be invited? How do you feel about all of us needing to use the "potty", etc., could be lots of indoor traffic. Also, what happens if it rains? Would you want to have people bring canopy's, chairs, etc.?
For everyone's input -- we should think about meals - would we want to chip in for a BBQ or should we still do a pot-luck style like before, with low carb, high-protein stuff?
I personally like to keep things simple whenever possible, it seems to work best. Last time we had post-ops bring the food, and pre-ops bring the dishes; napkins and drinks, etc. For a picnic we would also need ice, garbage bags, etc.
Since Darlene mentioned my church - it still would be available for a get-together again. We could have it outside - and come in for the food. In addition, it would give us a place to meet if it rains. There is a field for anyone who would want to play softball - and there are basketball nets. The shade is limited, but we seem to manage with church picnics.
Let's keep the ideas coming! It will be great to see everyone again!

Hi Kathy,
I was thinking also that Lighthouse Park in New Haven has pavilions that don't need to be paid for. You just have to get there early and save it, but I can double check on that. There is the beach, a carousel, barbeque pits, basketball courts, walking trails etc. It really is beautiful there. There are public restrooms that aren't too far away fromt he big covered pavilion. Just a thought if someone's yard doesn't work out. I will find out about reserving a pavilion or if you just show up. I think there is a parking fee of $3-$5 per car but I will check on that also if folks think it might be viable.

Linda,
Light house point park would be a great place to meet. Plenty of parking and covered pavillions. I think you are right about the small parking fee in season and there should be no charge for the facility. If it's hot we should have a nice breeze off the water.
