Tonya Sherrod, West Hartford, CT. 3 Days since my Lapband sx
Hello All,
I have been doing very well since my surgery on 4/20/2004. I had some discomfort in my shoulders due to air had to be put in my stomach to expand it and the pain is in my shoulders. I felt little discomfort from my portal incision but I have not experience any severe pain. The day of my surgery I got up and walk the halls, I didn't request any pain medication intil 12:30am which again was for the discomfort in my shoulder. I have been able to walk each day in the hallways of my apartment building and when it was nice outside I walked to CVS Pharmacy. I have that gas walking helps it tremendously. I am able to sleep on my left side but I always in up on my back. This might seem weird but the cooking channels gets me thourgh the day but I am ready to eat meat and meat only . I can't wait to puree food. I really want to heal without any problems. I have my post-op visit with my surgeon on 4/27/2004 but I have to do the liquids for one more week. I know that I can do it , It also felt really tight around my chest area but I was told that it was a side affect with the surgey. I also eat my surger free popsicles but everything is getting on my nerve. I WANT TO EAT RIGHT NOW HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Hi Tonya,
You sound like you're doing good, so hang in there! I know it must be a horrible feeling, but think about being on the losing side and how great that is!! I am pre-op, so I don't know what you are experiencing, but I can almost imagine! Get out and do as much as you can, so you don't get cabin fever. Good luck, and I'll keep you in my prayers!!

Tonya,
I had that shoulder stuff too. Take your pain meds, don't be afraid to use them as you need them. There's no reason to suffer. I also took GAS-X for the gas and it helped tremendously and coupled with the walking....well, just make sure there's no one behind you!!
Try having some sugar free jello, even mix a little cool whip in it. You won't be able to eat a lot of it, but it will get you though. I also drank a lot of herbal tea when I was just post op. Funny, I hate the stuff now, but drinking something flavored really helped. I drank all strange flavors too, apple cinn, peach, you name it just to get a taste in my mouth.
It's so funny you mention watching food network, I did the same thing. I even printed out recipes from their website to try as soon as I was ready.
Keep posting, we are all here for you, this is the toughest time, but I promise, it does get better.
hugs
Cheryl
