Hi All
I'm new here and just beginning my journey for WLS. I had the consultation with Dr Aranow and also have been to the dietician and went for the psych appointment with Amy and just recently had a sleep study done. I am now in the process of trying to lose the ten required pounds before the surgery, I have another appointment with the dietician in 6 weeks. Its been so hard! I guess because I dont have a strong enough diet history they are saying I won't be able to get a date until atleast 6-8 months until I have. Has anyone else had to deal with this? I have been overweight all my life. I'm 5'7 and weigh 300 pounds. I have had scheduled appointments with three different doctors in the past year and a half and as soon as I got a consultation date I would get a phone call stating that they were no longer accepting my insurance. I've had appointments with Dr Reinhold, Dr Valin and even Dr Crum out of Norwalk. I've also been to every informational session they had for all three of these Drs as well. I understand the lifestyle changes and all of the risks. I'm just getting so discouraged and just needed to vent and seeing that all of you are so supportive of eachother I just thought I'd add my post. Thanx for listening
Welcome Chrisanne! The documented diet is very common for the surgery process. (A lot of times for the insurance companies)
Don't get discouraged. Time flies faster than you think.
It is hard to keep track of a diet. I use www.fitday.com . This does all the work for me and charts my progress. It really helped me see what I was missing from my diet and change some nasty eating habits. Now I can just print them out and go. I've actually brought my BMI down to 38 from 43 in the past year pre-op.
Keep us posted on your journey and don't get discouraged. Come back here and vent any time you wish.

You are welcome here anytime to vent or just hang out!!! Please don't get discouraged, this is a very frustrating process for most and I swear they do it on purpose to weed out people who aren't serious or committed to change. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you that this time is the charm. You didn't mention what insurance you have. It might be helpful to others who have the same to know what they are up against. Please let us know what is happening with you!!!
