Hi everyone!! Happy Easter. I can not believe how great all the CT post-ops look. You all really inspire me!! I am schdl'd for my group meeting with Dr.Bell on June 10th. What can I expect from this meeting? What happens after this meeting? Is it realistic to think I will have surgery by the end of August? When will my paperwork be sent to my insurance company? Sorry for all the questions. I am so glad this site is around. Thanks you guys for always being around. Chryssie

Hi Chryssie, Thought I would try and answer your questions although I must say that I am not sure if the time lines have changed any but here goes...... The meeting is an educational session. You can bring your husband and or anyone else you want to support you. You will be filling out forms (of course) and make sure you bring a list of all your medications. Then you will see Lynda (his nurse) where you will get weighed in etc. Then you will meet with Dr. Bell and about 14 other folks who are in your grouping. Dr. Bell will go through the entire process of what happens during surgery and what you can expect. He will then open up the session to questions. He doesn't schedule anything else that afternoon so he will stay there as long as people want to discuss anything. The next step is one that you are already familiar with and hate . You wait!!! You wait for about 2 weeks to get a phone call with your surgery date. You will also get a date for your pre-op stuff. They will tell you not to listen to the hospital should they contact you with pre-admission dates. Only listen to Dr. Bell's office on that. Dr. Bell's office.....usually Lynda, should be telling you also if you need any more tests (i.e. cardiac clearance), which you probably won't need. Your surgery date is usually about 2 months from your educational session so it is possible that you will be done by the end of August or beginning of Sept. depending on how they are running in scheduling. As far as the insurance goes, his office handles all of that and they usually get an answer pretty quickly. They don't usually have any problems getting approvals. They will meet with folks who have Aetna or Cigna or other insurances that may have special requirements after the meeting is over with (right then). Hope this helps. I know the waiting is hard but definitely worth it!! Linda

Hi Chryssie, Linda explained it perfectly! There is nothing more to add, except that you will get your insurance approval just a few weeks before your surgery. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau
