Easter Candy

Tell me how much of a sicko I am. Pre op- I used to hide those cadbury eggs in my car, the little ones with the candy coating not the strange filled ones. I would hide the bag and wolf them down in the car. I also hid malted milk ball eggs. Then of course we had to have a Munson's within 10 miles so I was there too, (hiding the evidence of course) So, Post op, one would think all that goes away??? NOT!!! I was sitting there trying to figure out (calculator in hand) how many grams of sugar are in ONE M&M, to see if I can have one. The body changes but the mind has to change too. I haven't done sugar yet and I still won't. But really, couldn't we have a built in sugar allowance for these times of the year?? I should discuss this with my surgeon huh? That'll go over big! Enjoy your Easters everyone, and Pre ops? Please have a Cadbury egg on me!! Cheryl

Cheryl: I was just thinking about that yesterday when I went shopping for my son's Easter basket stuff. I can have some candy this Easter since I am still pre-op but next Easter will be a whole different story. Not that I REALLY need the candy. I put more little toys in the basket than candy. I don't want my son to have any issues with food & weight. I imagine holidays will take on a whole different spin. It wont be so much about what food there will be as much as WHO will be there. Have a great Easter. Chryssie

Cheryl, I was talking to someone on the Spotlight msn chat http://groups.msn.com/WLS-Pre-opsUpTo2Years/_homepage.msnw She said that she can eat 8 M&Ms any more than that and she dumps. I believe that is 16g of sugar (don't hold me to that, I might be confused) I do know that she can eat only 8 as we joke about this a lot. Cheryl, I think we must have been twins seperated at birth!! . I used to have hoards of candy that I head...and not only at Easter time. I have found that I am very satisfied on the sugar free candy from Russell Stover. I like the French Mints or the Induldge (Atkins) Mint Wafers. Today I went to Walgreen's and stocked up on the Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip (with Splenda) Hard Candies. Hmmmmm.....I am noticing a pattern here, everything had Mint in it!!!! However I have tried the Russell Stover Raspberry and some sugar free Fruit Chews that I like also. I only eat one piece at a time and not every day but it has seemed to satisfy my sweet cravings. Its nice to know I can have some candy if I want to. If all else fails, lock yourself in your bathroom until Monday and avoid after Easter Candy sales at all costs There are several months between Easter and the next big candy holiday...... However.........I just had an after thought. Those same months are devoid of BASKETBALL!!!!!! Drat! Linda ps. I have figured out that my picture viewing issues are related to AOL. I can see them when I go into Internet Explorer.

Honestly Linda, I think we were too!! Because we have WAY too mu*****ommon!!! lol I used to go grocery shopping and time it so I could wolf down a Stop and Shop Chocolate chip muffin in the car on the way home! My life really was just surrounded by food! I made it through the day with only one M&M. I just wanted to taste. I guess I truly am more afraid of NOT dumping than dumping itself. I would hate to think I could tolerate sugar because my head is not UN-addicted yet to food!! I will miss watching games so much. Now if the weather would get better I will start walking again! SUPPORT GROUP MEETING TONIGHT AT UCONN!!! love Cheryl

HI Cheryl, I confess, I was a bad girl! Those Cadbury eggs are my favorite! Well, DH bought a bag and it sat there for a day every time I walked by it I tried to look the other way. Well, I couldn't resist any longer and I only had 1, but i kept that in my mouth savoring the flavor for as long as I could. Nothing happened with 1 and so I had 1 more and I did not get sick at all (I wish I would have so I would'nt want to eat them) and after that I felt so guilty that I had the DH take the bag to work. My mom bought me a Sugar free Russell Stover Pecan caramel egg for easter, let me tell you, it was awesome. I did'nt finish the whole thing I just took a bite. But from now on I am going to try those Russell stovers like Linda said they satisfy your sweet craving. The mind still plays tricks on you, that is the scary part. Good Luck with those temptations! Happy Easter! MaryJo

I feel your pain! I have such a sweet tooth, and it's been hard at Easter. In fact, my b-friend gave me a bag of sugar-free Russell Stover jelly beans. I did okay for awhile, but when I got home from my Mom's, after having avoided many foods/goodies I wanted to eat but avoided, I munched on sugar-free jelly beans. Oh dear, the gas pains I had last night!!! I had never had such gas in my life. Needless to say, the sugar-free jelly beans are in the trash! Those cravings are powerful things. It's not just the physical cravings, but the emotional ones. Ugh!! Have a happy day! Kathy F.

I was a sweet eater. Chocolate was my favorite. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since my surgery. The paper work diet says that sugar free no fat chocolate pudding is ok. So I made some. It was always my favorite. On taste and I was making a face. It just didn't taste like how I remembered chocolate. So I tried a sugar free no fat fudgical that I've always loved and the samething happened. Is this what happens? Will this stay? In the past I've sometimes prayed that I would lose my chocolate addiction
