Hey Everybody, I need your advice about this.... I do not want to disappointment my husband's excitement about our vacation we booked on April 3, 2005. We will go to southern Criebbean (sp?) on DEAF CRUISE for seven days. My concern are I am not sure how I will feel by the time since my seminear with Dr. Aranow on May 12 2004. Since you have more experaince than I do. Do you think I will be okay to go on Cruise with eating little foods or have to order specail foods if I have a surgery in late October or November 2004. I guess I am Worrywart person and want to make sure to not spoil our 15 th anniversary on our DEAF cruise. HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYBODY Kathy K.

Kathy: If your surgery is not until October or November I would not worry about a cruise in April. I went on a cruise for my honeymoon and I actually lost weight on it. Yes there is alot of food on the ship but I ate better(fruit, veggies and lots of salads) on the ship than I did at home. I would not worry about it at all!!! Just enjoy yourselves and have a great anniversary. Chryssie

Kathy, Go on the cruise!!! You will enjoy it so much more than you can imagine being post op. I had my surgery the middle of November and here it is April. I feel great, I had no problems at all with eating while I was in New Orleans. I have chosen not to eat breads, pastas and rice (that is my choice and I know others who do things differently). I don't eat it at home and I didn't eat it on vacation. It was not difficult at all to find things on the menu that were high in protein. If something came with a starch I just asked them not to bring it or to substitute it with a salad. On the cruise there are alot of buffets where you can chose yourself what to put on your plate. I brought along some extra bags of Atkin's Crunchers (love those things....) and a couple of protein bars (never did use these) and some nuts (almonds and pumpkin seeds). I had those to snack on if I felt like I wanted to join others at snack time. Usually on a cruise they are very accomodating and will help you out anyway they can. I will warn you though that some cruise lines charge for bottled water and you will want to drink alot of that. Between the heat in the carribean and your need to stay hydrated, bottled water is a must. It will be an awesome trip because you will feel so much better about yourself and you will be able to do alot more activities than you would have pre-op. I am sooooo excited for you!! Linda

Kathy you are going to have sucha wonderful time on your cruise! You'll be fine by then I think for eating things. One thingyou might want to start doing is thinking about that new bathing suit your going to need! Imagine it being many sizes smaller too! good luck and god bless
