So Frustrated

I just need to vent for a minute. I hope no one minds. I went to my information seminar with Dr. Valin. My husband and I both liked him and his staff very much. They said sit tight, don't call the office. They will call to schedule the first consult. I've been researching WLS surgery for six months now and finally am ready to go ahead. I decided to take a quick nap and slept through the phone ringing..Guess who it was??? This was at 5:40. I called right back and no one answered....UGH!!!! It's so frustrating to have to crawl when you want to run.... Thanks for letting me vent.. Maggie

Maggie, You can come here and vent any time you want!!! I totally sympathize with you. The waiting was the most difficult part for me and to miss a phone call is the worst. However I am sure you will be on the phone first thing this morning calling them back. I am sure it will be good new but let me just caution you that there is still alot of waiting left and you just need to keep breathing and keep venting . Good luck!! Linda

Maggie, I was at the same seminar. You're ahead of me, I haven't gotten a call yet. I was told it could take a week or better before I heard anything from them. So hang in there. Nice to see someone else here that started the day I did. Julie

Thank you all for letting me vent. I did get a call back and am going to the consult at Dr. Valin's office on 4/9. Can't wait...I'm so excited to get this ball rolling. Julie, I'm glad to see there is someone else going to Dr. Valin' s office for surgery at the same time I am. What procedure are you hoping to have done? I am looking to have the Lap Band. Maggie

Maggie, I'm also looking at the lap band. You seem to have gotten the luck of the draw on who got called first. Hopefully there will be something on my answering machine on Monday. Julie

Dr. Valin Rocks. I had my surgery with him almost 2 months ago, I had open rny. His entire staff is awesome. You made a great choice and best of luck

Hi Julie / Maggie- They must be doing things differently now. When I went to the informational seminar the end of February, you filled out a paper and gave it to them with your personal info on it, and they gave you a date right then and there for your first appt with them. They also gave out a folder and it had Chris and Diana's phone numbers (nutrionist and psych.) I called Diana right away and got her voice mail. I told her I went to the info. seminar and would like to setup an appt, and that I would really prefer to be able to see her and Chris the same day, back to back. She called me back the next day and gave me an appt for both her and Chris. I didn't have to wait for the office to call. Maybe because the seminar I went to in February was only for lap banding, and not for RNY as well. I hope you get your call soon. I have my appt for this Wednesday for: chest x-rays, bloodwork, EKG and Endoscopy. I still have not met Dr Valin. I meet him this Friday, finally. Then, next Friday is the big day. I can't wait. I can't believe it has only taken about 7 weeks in total, from start to finish. The original doctor I signed up with was almost a year wait to have the surgery. I'm glad I had people tell me about Dr Valin. And, also knowing he was the 1st doctor in the state of Ct chosen to do the lap banding made me even happier I chose him. Julie, I'll be seeing you on May 1, right? And Maggie, his office moves fast. Honestly. I know the wait seems forever, but honestly with Dr Valin, it does go by quickly. His staff knows exactly what is going on and work hard to accomodate your availablity. Good luck!!! Linda

Thanks Linda. Good for you as you round the corner. At the seminar, they had us fill out a letter of intent and told us the office would call. They made it perfectly clear not to call them. I have heard from several people that they move quickly. Thanks, Maggie
