Update
Hi Rich,
Congrats on your insurance coverage and the beginning of your journey. When it comes time to make your appt for nutritionist, go with Mary Sue...not Liz. She'll be easier to get into cause she's new, and (in my opinion) nicer than Liz.
From start to finish, my time was 3 months, but, I had to drive an hour each way to Middletown for all my appts (I lived in Westerly, RI then). My husband had surgery 9 months after me, and I think he holds the record for getting his stuff done. FOUR WEEKS!!! He got all his tests done, made all of his appts and got them all done...
He is a Federal employee (FAA-air traffic controller) and because he had a seizure in Sept, he may lose his job come Feb. Maybe he can get a job with DOT too in the aviation part. He's been to Newington a bunch of times for meetings/committees that he's been on. What is the link/address to the ST of CT website where jobs are posted? I'd like to look it up for him. We're on pins and needles not knowing what's going to happen. You give 26 years of your life to the government (military/FAA) and they kick you in the a$$ when you're down.
Take care, keep us all posted as to your progress.

Hi Paula,
Thanks for the advice to go with Mary Sue, I'll make sure I go with her.
Your husband got everything done in four weeks?????
Holy Paula's-Shrinking-Husband Batman!
He's an air traffic controller? I've always wanted to do that since I was a little boy.
I'm sorry to hear about his seizure, I'll keep my fingers crossed in Feb.
Meanwhile, here's the web address for state jobs/exams:

Thanks for all the advice,

Yes, three...there's not much that can be done when you work for the FAA and have a seizure of unknown origin and can't prove to them that it won't happen again. He lost his medical clearance and the flight surgeon doesn't see him getting it back for up to two years, just cause he has a percentage chance of having another one in two years...The FAA won't retain his employment for that long.
He will probably have to apply for a medical disability/retirement and see if they accept it...
Life as we knew it changed with a five minute seizure...we're scared, nervous, terrified...and, the night time snacking is getting out of control...i'm nervous eating. That's gotta stop.
Thanks for asking...the attorneys all said something different. THey are highly recommended aviation and workers comp experts and they've given some good advice...
We shall see...this is too big for me to handle, so I've raised it up to God to take over for me...
Plus, I'm the family chauffeur cause he can't drive for three months due to the seizure. I'm beat!
Thank God that we're near family that have been a tremendous help.

Congrats Rich and BEST of luck to you. You have worked hard towards this and that says a lot about your determination to regain your health and lose the weight. I have no doubt you will have super success!
Paula I am so sorry to hear of your hubbys health issues. CT is a tough place to find a job now a days. I hope things work out in your favor and he can keep his job or maybe find another position in the FAA untill they clear him to resume his duties.
Jeez Louise Paula!
I have no wisdom to offer you.
I have a sense, though, that in life, some of the largest
"what do we do now" situations
push us to places that, looking back, we see how it has bettered our lives.
I say this with all due respect to your situation and not putting any lightness on it.
Be good to yourself as you "warrior woman" you way through each day.
Hang in there.
