Support Group Information

Hello again all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what support groups are available in CT if any. Thanks, Maggie

Do you have a surgeon yet? If not, who are you considering? It is often a good idea to go to the support group associated with the surgeon you want to use. However, there are support group meetings all over the state for each surgeon. I think that most of them are open to all. I'm sure some people will post when their pre-surgical groups are. I can't help, unfortunately, because I only know about a post-surg. group. lisa c

Hi Maggie, I see that you are from Norwich. Dr. Sorli from the Diabetes Management Center at Backus holds a support group every other month. The next one will be the beginning of May on a Tuesday from 4pm- about 6. It may be a good starting point for you. I am in Norwich also, so if you would like to e-mail me feel free. Good luck. That would be great to attend as I am a patient of Dr. Sorli. I love him and think he is wonderful. I never even thought to talk to him about this surgery. I will definately try to make that group. Thank you, Maggie

Welcome Maggie! New London also has a monthly support group meeting.This is open to pre-ops,post-ops, anyone thinking about it etc.Bring along anyone you would like.We are not affiliated with any particular doctor,even though our meetings are held at L&M Hospital.You will see patients who have several different doctors, as well as different surgical options.The next meeting is scheduled for April 28th,7pm in Baker Auditorium,which is just inside the main entrance, making it very convenient.Good Luck to you, and remember there is support from many avenues and wonderful ppl on the boards!
