New to the Group

Hello all, I just wanted to introduce myself. I am 36 years old and live in Norwich CT. I just got back from my first WLS support event and had a great weekend in Boston. I am looking to have Lap Band Surgery and have just started the process. I have High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, GERD, Heart Problems, Depression and Asthma. When I had a heart attack two years ago, I was able to drop a substantial ammount of weight but am now having trouble taking off the last 75 pounds. With all of my comorbidities and a BMI of 36.5 I am hoping that this surgery will help me live a longer more productive life. I look forward to getting to know you all better, Maggie

Hi Maggie, Welcome aboard! I had thought about going to the Spotlight get-together in Boston -- is that where you were last weekend? Was it good? We had a CT OH get-together 2 weeks ago, and it was wonderful. Keep us posted, and feel free to ask questions, this is a great group, and we are all willing to help. It was the Spotlight gathering in Boston that I went to. It was great. I met so many wonderful people and we are alreday looking forward to the Philly gathering in the fall. I actually went as a support person for my friend Alicia who is having open RNY and came away inspired to do something for myself. I'm sorry I missed the CT gathering, but am sure I will get to know some of you at future meetings. Maggie
